Net neutrality or not is a double-edged sword. An example of why net neutrality is unfair is that if I start a mobile phone company called XYZ and can brag that my network is fast and reaches all urban and suburban areas. In reality, XYZ company did nothing to install those network but is merely using Verizon's and AT&T's network, marketed as though XYZ owns such a wide network. With net neurtality in place, Verizon and AT&T would tend not to further invest in networks since it is "free" for their competitors to use. The other side of the coin is if net neurtality is reversed, each company who owns their network can restrict other providers from using theirs. Consumers may feel that they are the losers either way.

Since this can turn into a political discussion instead of an IT discussion, I will stop here and I would advise Moderators to close this thread.

My intent for posting this two pieces of info is for people to be aware of an important decision being forced to vote, including an opinion from a sitting FCC person and a good Reddit thread if anyone is interested in doing something but unsure where to turn.

As the FCC person wrote, something of this importance should be given a chance (adequate time) to be discussed and not rushed, and if all times during the holidays when people's focus are normally on other things.

We do not need to discuss anything here.

No big deal to me. I lived most of my life before the net and whatever happens, it won’t really bother me.

Cheers
