Need quick answer if anyone is up and about :)

We traded one of our Aruba weeks for a non M resort for this August. Sadly we wont be able to use it so decided that we'd wait and cancel in May(since we only have a 1 year usage for a retrade but if we find something before we cancel further out we can book it) prior to the 60 days then use the week for May 2013 for the caribbean(not a M). Just now I've looked on I.I and the exact location, for the exact week and the exact resort we want is showing available(using one of our M weeks but I'm 99% sure that the already booked week will pull the same thing)...I.I doesnt open until 10 am....and I cant see anyway of doing this online...am I correct that I have to wait until they open to secure this week that will likely be gone by then or is there a work around anyone is aware of ?

Do you have another week that you can use to confirm it? You could confirm, then call II when they open and cancel the exchange and ask for the reexchange. Never done this, but have read about it and thought it was a possible option in cases like this. You have 24 hours to cancel an exchange outright.

You can also play the 18 minute hold game for the next two hours. Just click the Exchange button, then the unit is on 18 minute hold (but don't follow through). Continue to search for that unit and each time you see it pop up, click the Exchange button again. Six or seven times at this and it will be 10:00, then you can do the hold again and the II rep can go in and release the hold and confirm the re-exchange.

I did this for our recent Lakeshore re-exchange, though I didn't try to continue the hold for two hours.

Keep checking, it is possible that someone else has just placed it on 18 minute hold but won't follow through.

I was told last week that I should first exchange into what I want and than call the agent otherwise in in flex change the units go pretty fast. But since it was regular hours I put it on 18 min hold and called.

So...what happens at the end of the 1st 18 minutes....do i release it or search again....might i be better off grabbing it with my actual confirmation number for a week Im not really exchanging it for esp if there is someone else out there who is doing the same thing?

What if i used a dummy confirmation number?

After 18 minutes, it releases again. Don't know what happens if you use a dummy confirmation number. If you have an actual week you can use, I would do that, then call II in a half hour when they open and do the switch. Also note, if you put it on an 18 minute hold, subsequent searches by you will look like the week is gone. It will pop up again when the 18 minutes lapse.

This does work. I saw a surfwatch unit that I wanted to exchange into while looking online late at night and used a dummy confirmation number for a unit that I didn't even have usage for that year. I was able to hold it like that until the morning
