Need quick advice on upgrade.

I started out in 1987 to buy what I wanted. Orange lake then blue green and Wyndham. Either rent or buy resale today, its a bit different. Systems versus independent. A good trader if you decide to wait. 4 yrs ago I decided to go Wyndham, those 4 bedrooms, 400,000 points, about $2100 a year maintenance fee. Use as a guide.

I'm not sure how much points equate to in dollars, but, do you consider this Wyndham deal a good deal? That mnx fee seems very high compared to what I was quoted. But, I do rent a lot and will look into resale, as well.

That's not an easy answer. 154000 points is a 2 bdrm 1week every year for one of their older resorts. There is a difference in their maintence fees. The lower the fee, the more the points are worth. An inverse proportion. Like a seesaw.

Remember only thing that counts is what is in writing in the contract, nothing verbal holds water down the road NOTHING.

Timeshares are lots easier to buy then to sell/give away.

Sounds confusing. I will need to study the points system so I can figure out how to compare the two.

So lets say your looking at two different Wyndham resorts. Both are the same price and same amount of points? There is a whole tread on, where when and why. An actual survey you can use as a guide.

For example both are in an area you would like to go to. All amenities you want in both, equal. You buy the one with the lowest maintenance fee. The work comes in when you want to compare Wyndham with another system. Say starwood, how strong a system compared to HGVC. You also have to look at what is your someday goal, kids, school? It's covered in the survey.
