Does anybody have a phone number to call to speak to someone at Marriott Owners to confirm they received our intent to rescind our contract within the 10 days allowed???

Thanks!

It's a bad idea to call:
- A phone call is not legally binding, so no matter what they tell you, you won't know if it's true or not.
- If you talk to someone in sales, they will double down on you to get you to change your mind.
- You are not REALLY going to know if it's been processed until the credit shows on your credit card - they don't have to contact you in any way.
- It's probably going to be at least 30 days after they received your rescission paperwork, before you get a credit.
- If you rescinded with the proper procedure, withing the legal rescission time frame, you can feel confident that Marriott will accept it.
- It's hard to be patient, but that's the best course of action.

Good luck to you!

They are under no requirement to inform you of the progress of your rescission, but they ARE required to process your rescission as long as it was postmarked during the allowable rescission timeframe.

We know the waiting is stressful, and that depending on when the refund is posted to your credit card account, and it can take up to 45 days (probably won't)

Welcome top TUG!

Assuming you had your rescission Postmarked within the legally allowed 10 day time frame AND you used USPS Certified Mail (so you can track it) then you'll know that they did actually receive it.

They have no obligation to acknowledge your rescission, but they are legally obligated to honor your request by law. Allow up to 45 days for a refund.

Good move to rescind. Welcome to TUG.

Thanks everybody!!! Within a couple of days, We sent a letter certified mail through USPS and it was received and signed for and we also included a printout of the 10 emails sent to the email address listed in the intent to cancel section of the contract.
A thing I noticed about the email in the “how to cancel” part of the contract, if you copy and paste the email from the PDF, it copies a different email address than what’s in the file. So the hyper link in the PDF is purposely set to a wrong email address. We knew to send a letter through USPS certified and not just an email from the other posts on here that we read and I assume that is why.
Our kids loved the Marriott resorts in Orlando so much and all the owners we talked to there were all positive, so we thought this would be a good idea. That and a room at a decent hotel at any beach or other vacation areas is well over $2,500 for a week. I researched them on BBB and most of the complaints were from people who had been owners for a really long time and didn’t like the new points system and almost all were owners at a single a single resort location. Also, we had family who had bought in before even the first resort was built 40 years ago and they swore by Marriott.
We had already been through the 2 hour sales pitch meeting three times and had immediately said no each time and then they would offer a week-long stay for hardly anything. Our sales person, I feel, this time was much more up front from the previous two had been and spent 3 hours with us showing us how to “play” the system of reserving locations and then “selling” them at a profit to pay for the membership and how to cut the line in the queue when calling, etc.. And this time, when I asked for the salesperson to login to their account and pull up actual resorts and reserve a room so we could see the actual price and a availability, they actually showed us, not the demo screens they use.
But, by the time the “supervisor” or whatever they are called came in and finished his talk, I was so irritated at his switching between trying to make a connection to us by being over-the-top excited about where we live and our last name and the name of our street and city and then switching directly back to “used car salesman” personality, we had second thoughts. And then he assumed our political views based on where we live and started discussing politics.
The salesman apologized for the supervisor and while we waited for them to bring us the thumb drive and all that, the salesman showed us options on where and how to list reservations to sell. Then I thought, let me look this up.
So, I went to the bathroom and sit in a stall and googled “how to sell Marriott reservations” and found the sites that sell MVC memberships and listings on ebay and this forum. I saw that there were other, less expensive, ways to get what we wanted and they were legitimate resale sites. And I read a couple of threads on this site, thank you TUG members :), and saw how to rescind the contract. So, when I went back to the cubicle, I asked to see the contract again on the ipad and I went to the contract cancellation page and took pictures with my phone so we could cancel as soon as we got back to the room. And we did.
So, thanks to everybody on this group who have taken the time to help people like us get out of the contract. Now, on to figuring out how and which membership to buy!

Best,
Sammy and Jen
