We own an older mobile home in SE Florida, thats really starting to show its age big time. We want to just have it taken apart and hauled away. Does anyone know what kind of outfit we should contact that would do the job for the salvage rights to anything thats usable like the aluminum siding, coppper pipes etc.?

I have tried the yellow pages and online but nothing I look under seems to be what we need.

Thanks,

Suzanne

Do you want to make money on the scrap or do you just want to be rid of it? If the latter, try freecycle.org. Someone locally might be able to make use of it, or be willing to deal with the salvage.

I wouldn't use inexperienced volunteers - if there is an accident YOU will be liable. I would use a business with their own insurance coverage for salvage work.

Contact a couple of the local, older mobile home parks. Here in NJ, there a company which basicly eats the old mobile home.

It is also against federal law to MOVE a mobile home older than the mid 70s.

I remember my husband used to do this as part of his job. In Arizona you generally had to declassify it as real property and register with Motor Vehicles. He always used a demolition company. Sometimes there was asbestos that had to be cleared. Of course, sometimes, the mobile home just disappeared (probably became a hunting lodge in Wyoming)??!! Any demolition company worth it's salt would probably do it (safely).:D
