Be sure to reserve your tee times in advace. My fav courses are the Crag(hard) and the Brae(easy) at Heatherhust. I also enjoyed the course at Dorchester. Great prices of $26 for up 2 people in your party.
Check this link http://www.sunflowergolf.com/
There are a couple of nice reasturants (Legends and Stonehenge Country Club). Great little place for breakfast and dinner near checkin. Very good BBQ can be found down the road toward Crossville. Be sure to check out the Cumberland County Playhouse http://www.ccplayhouse.com/
There is good hiking in the Big South Fork area. Have fun.

Our teens liked The Bean Pot restaurant, but the adults did not care for the food as much (too high in fat, calories, starch, etc.).

We enjoyed hiking at Fall Creek Falls State Park. My husband and brother-in-law like Big South Fork. GSMNP is great for hiking, but it is not particularly close to Fairfield Glade and the most direct route is via the heavy Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg traffic.

Our only disappointment was that the rental bikes were not well-maintained. If you want to bicycle around the resort (and it is a very large resort), I would suggest you bring your own.

When we were there last summer, there was no grocery store closer than Crossville. There's a Kroger and some other large groceries in Crossville, though.

The resort offers a number of bus trips, etc. to places such as the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area to the east and Nashville to the west. We enjoyed the trip to Nashville for the Grand Ole Opry.

Big South Fork is closer than the Smokies and the hiking may be just as good. They also have places to rent horses, I think. On the road to there you'll go through Mennonite communities where they welcome guests and sell items such as baked goods.

I second the suggestion to try the Cumberland County Playhouse if you enjoy the theatre. My oldest son and husband spent a summer there doing productions.

There is a newish RCI resort at Fall Creek Falls that looks incredible. We've been trying to get up there for a weekend exchange, but when never seem to be available when it is and vice versa.
