NEED HELP - Family Trust Reservation

Hi - I need help and advice and hope the fine Disney owners can assist. We own a Hyatt and traded into a SSR studio through II. We check in next weekend. Our Hyatt TS in our family trust name and II made the exchange and put the exact legal trust name on the SSR reservation.

My wife called the II desk of Disney owner services (that was interesting) and was told that only the family trust can check-in, I don't know how a legal entity does that. She was told that bringing the trust documents would not allow her to check-in. She was also told that the family trust counts as a room occupant. We are on the Disney Dining Plan and therefore the family trust needs to buy a meal plan along with my wife and I. We were told this is because Disney's computer sytem can handle family trusts.

Any help and advise would be appreciated.

This is good advice. Its probably the easiest thing to do.

Have you tried phoning the resort directly? Or taking it up the "food chain" at II? Your post seems to indicate that you've made one call. I'm not saying that critically, just I'd be on the phone aaying, "May I speak to the person who supervises you, please?" to everybody. It seems to me you'll have to work your way past the frontline people who simply don't grasp the concept that this is unworkable, to someone with the authority to realize how mind numbingly stupid the whole thing is, and has the power to change it.

Or I would suggest posting this on the disney boards, maybe, www.disboards.com under the Disney Vacation Club forum? Perhaps someone there has a contact number that can be of help?

Sorry I don't have a real answer for you but that's just what I would be doing. I think it's such a bizarre problem and probably one that's not been seen before and that's why most are at a loss.

I hope you can get it worked out.

I am surprised that the exact name on your ownership is "Smith Family Trust;" usually real estate ownership interests held in trust are held by the trustees of the trust, as in "Bob Jones, Trustee, of the Jones Family Trust." If this is the case and your Hyatt ownership is by the Trust through its trustee, correcting this on the reservation with DVC may be sufficient (assuming the trustee is actually checking in).

For what its worth, we own DVC through our trust and as Trustees, my DH and I are considered the owners/members. We have never had to list our trust as another occupant. Best of luck -- Suzanne

Unfortunately, I"m having a similar issue.

My ownerships are in the name of an entity, a partnership. II's membership application specifies that entities have to designate a single person who is the member. I designated myself.

Despite being the designated member, II's confirms still show the entity as the guest. So far, I haven't found myself unable to check in, but in at least one case it was a pain.

If anyone finds a solution, I'd be interested.

I would contact Hyatt II desk they can work this out very easily.

On your trust just show who is in the family trust should be 1 or 2 sheets of paper.

Have a great trip to DVC.

Thanks for all your support for the Tahoe Board the board is working as 1 now the new President is excellent Steve Dykstra. All 4 other board members are working together and showing HYATT that is is the owners resort not Hyatt resort anymore.

TJ,

How did this get resolved?
