Glad I found this place!

I’m sure I could learn everything I need to know about my situation by spending a bunch of time here, but I was hoping someone one be kind enough to give me a run down of what to expect…

My elderly father spent a BUNCH of money (Gold VIP) on a Wyndam timeshare and made me and my 2 siblings co-owners. He claimed he paid extra for a “Pathway” buyback program for a quick and easy exit.

Well… Dad’s now ailing, and we want out. Seems becoming owners may have been a mistake.

A call to Wyndam revealed that the “Pathway” program is “paused” indefinitely, and we are on a waiting list if/when it resumes.

So…they’re not buying anything back, correct?

What do we do?

Sorry again for the topic, as I’m sure it’s been discussed ad nauseum. I just need a quick bottom line from someone in the know.

Thanks

Sadly, most timeshares are worth little or nothing.

To determine the value of what you own you should go to www.Redweek.com and type in the name of the Resort to see what others are asking for the identical unit.

Be sure your Timeshare is 100% paid in full otherwise it will not be possible to sell or give away to anyone.

Do NOT let a fast talking scammer convince you to fork over some upfront cash in order to sell the timeshare for you. They'll steal your money and do absolutely nothing for you.

Welcome to TUG.

If money is not owed on a mortgage you should be able to use Wyndham’s Certified Exit program. See post above this one.

It was so nice of them to have him pay extra for a program they subsequently "paused".

I was wondering how that is even legal.

Also, find out what specifically you own - is it Club Wyndham Access, is it a specific resort, how many points, what are the maintenance fees, etc - you might be able to sell it on e-bay or TUG for a thousand dollars depending. Even if there's no sale value, you might be able to give it away on the TUG free timeshares forum. Either is probably easier than dealing with trying to give it back and might really help someone else out.
