I read the sticky, but I still don't know quite what the "club" offers that is different from any owned week. I was looking at a resale week and am not sure quite what being a FL owner means outside of any other owned week.

There are 5 member Marriott Resorts and it allows you to reserve like for like at the six month mark. Must be the same season (i.e. Platinum for Platinum, Gold for Gold, Silver for Silver) and unit size must be the same.

You do not need to deposit or trade in order to make these reservations (other than giving up your week at your home resort).

Hope that helps.

.

The "club" simply give you access to reserve at one of the other four member resorts 6 months out (or seven months if reserving consecutive or concurrent weeks).

So at 12 months I could reserve my unit as usual, then at 6 months trade to a different resort if I wanted?

Consecutive weeks....would that require 2 ownerships, or if a unit is a lock off, could I reserve 1 in a studio and 1 in 1br? ( actually I guess I have that question even if reserving at the home resort. If you want to split, is it still a 12 month reservation, or 13 for 2 weeks)

Yes, at 12 months out you could make a reservation at your home resort. Then at 6 months you can cancel your home resort reservation and make a Florida Club reservation. Keep in mind you ARE NOT trading.

Consecutive weeks would require two ownerships. A single lock off week wouldn't cut it. Same rules as 13 month consecutive/concurrent reservations.

If you are going to trade just thru Marriott, this might be an advantage, in you need to do this at 6 months out. We own a 2BR lockoff "Gold season EOY odd" at Beach Place Towers, and have never been hogtied by having to wait until then - as soon as we lock off and deposit into Interval, all the looniness of *Florida Club* goes away. We like going to Florida in March. Our *season* starts in May. So - we stagger our years so that if we start May, 2017 - we use that property or its trade value on November of 2017 - our EOY (Every Other Year of use) and then in March of 2018. Often we just deposit it ans use both halve in the no-year-of use - so no Florida Club restrictions. BTW - we have ALWAYS be uptraded - the Guest unit routinely gets us a 1BR or even 2BR there. If you stick ONLY in Marriott trading, there are RULES - as soon as your deposits are washed thru II, those rules go way. Yes - there might be OTHER rules - but so far, this has all been positive for us. And things like strnegth of your trading week - Sold, Silver, PLatinum, etc. - bows to seom other things that II uses - they ahve a Demand chart, and some kind of their OWN internal code of what gets you what. And sometimes, you just find your OWN trade, and pounce - we have done that, too, even though we are neophytes at that - and there are people here who are masters at it - and at any given time, have enough properties listed in II that get to look around freely. Us - not always.

I agree with Mamianka, just using II instead of fretting over the Florida Club is much easier. Though with a new resale, II will incure fees. But you will likely be able to confirm a week far further out than six months.

We own a FC week at Grande Vista and have never used the option. For enrolled weeks, the FC has become almost obsolete given that there are no exchange fees in II.

II trades are not rentable..... FC on the other hand...

Another little quirk in the FC is that you can split your time in two resorts. A friend did this a few years ago spending 4 days in Ocean Pointe and 3 days at Beachplace.

Personally I've never used it, never plan to use it and I wouldn't even consider it in any decision to buy.

This is the split week option that exists at many resorts. Florida Club allows you to use the split week and lock off options at the other FC resorts or between two resorts. People that own at Legends Edge can use the lock off feature to lock off and reserve a other resorts that have lock off units. Legends Edge are all dedicated 2BR units.

This lock-off ability is a big advantage indeed to Legends Edge owners using the FC. This year I used the FC option of my Legends Edge 2BR to book a nice week at BeachPlace. I could have locked off the unit and deposited one side or both. Instead I kept the 2BR at BP and let my daughter and her friends use it.

Legends Edge in FC

Has anyone else noticed that it is now significantly harder to get a BP week, for example, to reserve through Florida Club, for a Legend's Edge week? Years ago, we could easily use our Legend's Edge week to reserve either GV or BP at 6 months, but this 6 month inventory seems to be almost non existent now.

While I used my Florida club option once or twice, it is much easier to just use II and exchange.

One thing I have never understood with the Florida Club, is how I book something in late 2H of the year? For example, how would I book Christmas at another Florida Club resort for that use year, given you can only book 6 months out?

If you want to book a December reservation, just wait until June of that use year to make the reservation. You don't have to always have to make the reservation in the year prior to the use year.
