Thanks for posting

I just found out today that my husband gets a week off next spring to go to a meeting in Lake Las Vegas - on the kids' spring break - so we're trying to see what national park adventures we can tie to that trip. I get to start planning!!! Can't wait to read your travel tale!

Death Valley NP is not far from Vegas. Depending on when in the spring you are going, you could see some beautiful wild flowers.

Hi

have done a number of 'side trips' when visiting Vegas - lots of options but if you must -- go to UTAH at some point in your life - the trip up thru the Virgin River cannon on the interstate is amazing when you see it for the first time. From St George there are many directions - but Zion NP is never ending amazement and the hotel on site is most affordable. Go back a couple of times and keep taking side trips out of Zion .. get good maps - the smaller the road the more fun ... we have found this site to be helpful ... http://www.byways.org/browse/

Vegas-to Death Valley to Yosmite (watch for snow - longer trip )
Vegas to Sedona
Vegas to Park City to Moab
Vegas to Bryce NP
Vegas to Zion -- my fav shorter trip

If you go to Zion, you may as well go to Grand Canyon--North Rim and Bryce NP.
