I was wondering if you need a car in nashville or could just use public transportation. I thought I read somewhere that the wyndham in Nashville has shuttles to some of the events. Are they affordable or cost prohibitive? TIA

We stayed at the Wyndham Nashville resort a couple of years ago. It is near Opryland and the Grand Ole Opry, but a ways out from most other attractions. There was some shuttle service offered for events, but I do not recall the details. Perhaps someone else will be more familiar with the shuttle service.

We had a car and in addition to the Grand Ole Opry, we visited places such as the Country Music Hall of Fame; the Parthenon; the Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson; and several civil war sites in the area around Nashville.

My opinion is that you would not want to be there without a car.

Nasville is mid South - mid America, you need a car in my opinion. I have never stayed at the Wyndham Nashville, but have been by there and know the location. There is a lot to do in the area, but getting to it would be an issue with public transportation.

Definitely get a car! A highlight of our stay there was driving up into Kentucky to Mammoth Caves Nat'l Park. The region also has factory tours where you can see how they make Corvettes, Toyotas, Saturns, Jack Daniels (and other whiskey brands), Louisville Sluggers (baseball bats), stoneware, dairy products, textiles and glassworks. Most of this would require a car.

There are tours from the resort on certain days (so most helpful if you'll be there a full week) to visit some of the area's museums and the most famous attractions and music venues. You'd be greatly limited on when and where you visit them. It's good that they offer these for those who cannot drive. But, if you can, get a car.
