A few minutes ago I was on the website and got a pop up say”suspicious activity found click here”. Of course I did not click but has anyone had this happen to them while on the points portion of the website?
Thanks

That sounds like they've been hacked or perhaps your own browser has a hack or virus. I've never encountered that on the MVC site.

This has started happening to me over the last few days.
I don't believe it's a hack or virus.
It seems like Marriott has implemented a new security system to track bots [repetitive quick clicks or too many keystrokes over a short period of time].
Did you do many searches over a short period of time?

I've had that popup many times recently while doing a lot of searches. It is irritating and I've assumed it is some poor attempt at preventlng/blocking or slowing down bots or similar.

Since the 2 phase signon change , I get a website drop during a simple transaction (reserve, checking points balance,...) and then it fails when I try re login. An agent said to fix this I had to clear cache and history and restart the browser. This works but it's a poor solution for badly designed/debugged software and when it happens a lot ...it results in a long time spent just for a simple reservation or transaction.

(Sorry to rant) I'm starting to get frustrated with MVCI for losing their root expertise in Marriott customer hospitality which is one of the reasons we bought into MVCI many years ago (the Marriott family ensured we were treated fairly & right when I stayed at Marriott's for business travel - standards ).
We are spoiled and in Hawaii for the past several weeks.
But Some of my recent frustrations:
1. website bugs and dismal performance especially during the 12 and 13 month inventory release. I've lost many reservations on those days
e.g. you fight the slow system to find an available room then the system hangs solid so you lose the reservation. If you are lucky and got far enough
it might go into a holding status but the system is hung so you can't get back in time to confirm. I did luck out once and an agent found the held room but many times - no.
2. MVCI availability in general is very poor and MVCI seems to focus on ROFR to get more dest points rather than creating new inventory i.e. announce a few sites but delay construction on Savannah,Charleston,Nashville, 4th tower at KoOlina etc
3. Internet at resorts slow and problematic at various times. If you open more than 1 or 2 tabs browser crawls or stops working. I feel a factor causing this is the addition of a lot of internet video (TV, etc) without increasing the capacity.
4. When we have consecutive week reservations (not same room type) some resorts used to make the move easy (stay in the room until the next is ready then move over without checking out and being homeless for the day). This can be reasonably coordinated without impacts to housekeeping and cost.
5. Kauai Beach Club ... losing the hotel part is a big slap to owners. Yes they've done a reasonable adjustment since but it should have never occurred. We are almost 2nd tier visitors compared to experience we had before. No Marriott room charges as they presented to us when selling.

Yes I know it's a profit centered business and tradeoffs always occur but quality experience is important and that's why all of us paid so much.
(rant off sorry)

Once blocked, the way around this is to shutdown the browser [clears the cache cookies that Marriott uses].
Closing the "Tab" does not work.

Unfortunately, shutting down the browser is a pain for me as I lose all the saved credentials [for multiple other sites] and need to go through 2FA for each and every site.

Not sure what your browser is, or what your settings are, but default behavior is not to erase all cookies on shut down. You can even shut down your computer and they will stay. There is a setting in Chrome at least that allows to clear cookies on shutdown, but it is not commonly used. In any case, most (all should) sites that use 2FA should clear your login session (not necessarily all clear the actual cookie) upon timeout anyway.

These cached credentials are different from regular cookies and go away once a browser is recycled.
It is a security feature related to 2FA and may not be related to browser settings.

Same thing just happened to me. Was on the new "improved site" for the first time. I booked one stay, then proceeded to try to book another--not unusual for me to do for the past 10 years. Mid-way into the process of adding all the information, this Red BOT message pops up saying its monitoring the reservation for "suspicious activity"- I chose to release the reservation rather than risk it taking my points and I get nothing. Welcome to the newest version of MVC Hell. If there is somewhere to lodge a complaint, please advise.

I'm going to clear the cache, and try again.

And in fact, inventory is actually decreasing. The Westin Resort and Spa in Cancun was recently removed due to a sale. They try to prop up the product with hotels that requires an absurd amount of points, or cruises. But that's not the products we purchased.

They are actively building new villas in Khao Lak, Thailand and remodeling some 2BR hotel suites to 2BR timeshare villas.

They are but Marriott Vacations also announced in their 4th quarter 2025 earnings call that they are pulling back significantly in Asia Pacific. We don't really know exactly what that means but they expect sales there to slow by about 30%.

Yes, and Asia Pacific isn't a broad area for MVC, it's really just Nusa Dua (Indonesia) and Thailand. And I think there's a resort in Australia that they may lump into Asia Pacific. So if they're pulling back significantly there, it makes me think they might sell/walk away from the Thailand project. How else would they cut 30% off of their A/P sales? They were just crowing about it a few months ago so it would be strange to have them abandon it, but they are under pressure.

I just returned from there and they are very far along with 5 new buildings that will include 60+ 2BR villas. Also a couple of new restaurants and an additional pool. Expected completion late 2026 or early 2027. They are just now beginning to upgrade the existing 2BR villas located in 4 JW Buildings to have full kitchens + washer dryers. When done later this year that will be an additional 50+ 2BR villas. Might be hard for them to walk away from this. Time will tell.

Thanks, I was pretty sure they were well into construction. But if they’re forecasting their Asia Pacific sales to drop by 30%, that seems to say that they’re going to stop selling… something. Don’t know what it would be then. I guess we will find out in time.

I'm not sure how MVC is developeing these, but I suspect it is another developer building them. Marriott would consider this asset their asset light strategy. As they need units to sell they buy them from the developer. They did something similar with the newest tower at Crystal Shores. I beleive now that entire tower is in the points trust. Until those units were all conveyed to the trust, they would rent them on Marriott.com and other outlets and share rental revenue with the developer. Perhaps they will do something similar with these new units in Thailand. We'll see if we learn more about what is up with their AP strategy in throughout the year.

If there's an issue with the website "remembering you" then open a window in incognito mode. Hopefully that'll work.

I think I've been clicking too fast checking dates and have triggered the "suspicious activity" pop up. After this, the website becomes slow and unusable and I have to switch devices to continue my searches. Has anyone encountered this and were you able to alert the website you are not a bot? TIA
