MVC Looking for Advice on Booking

Update on

Update: Yesterday, I contacted the MVC owner services to change the reservation from March 14 - 8 nights + wait list March 22 and 23 to March 15 - 9 nights + wait list March 14. I mentioned to the representative (Luis) that my objective is to make a reservation of a two-bedroom oceanside on March 14 for 10 nights. He was extremely helpful, and after 20 minutes, he completed the reservation that I wanted.
By 'completed the reservation' do you mean he found inventory for that Waitlist last night and completed the 1 nights reservation for you?

Hi Dean. Can you clarify, not clear about the point Tue vs Fri
UP TO half of the units are released for points reservations at 9 AM central 13 months out and the remainder at 12 months out on Friday at 9 AM. Weeks reservations are released on the calendar day exactly 13 months out from the FIRST day of check in for that resort (sometimes Thursday) for those that qualify and then at 12 months out from the first day of check in the rest of the units are released.

I already had the reservation for March 14 - 8 nights. He found inventory for the two waitlisted nights - March 22 and 23.

That is great they can find inventory for Waitlisted nights while in a phone call!

Sounds like a lot of work 😑
Wait, don't most owner updates come with promises of personalized help with bookings and such?
Every tip I've learned so far has been through the TUG forum. Once I enrolled in the Abound point system last year at an owner update, I was ghosted by the person who was supposed to provide personalized service.
However, the Marriott owner's service desk representatives have been great with assisting me with my first reservation using the system. I found out that you need to be nice to them, but persistent and reasonable with your request. I agree with Pamplemousse: "It’s a process, not a one-time chance.". Timeshares require planning your vacation at least 9 to 12 months in advance. My only challenge with the Abound system is to ensure that I do not miss deadlines: banking and election, since I am an every-other-year owner.
