MVC extended holding account Destination Club Points another 12 months

From the official docs:

"Holding Account means an account established for purposes of depositing Exchange Points that are restored to a Program Member after the cancellation or modification of a confirmed reservation. Exchange Points deposited in a Program Member’s Holding Account shall be available for further use during that same Use Year, but the further use of such restored Exchange Points shall only be confirmed by Exchange Company for Use Periods beginning no more than sixty (60) days after the date of the request, subject to availability, or other Special Benefits as may be made available for such purposes by Exchange Company from time to time. Exchange Points deposited in a Holding Account may not be transferred to other Program Members, banked for future use, or used for wait list requests."

This section has always been there. Had tried in previous years and they denied waitlist request. Maybe they granted you an exception? From page 20:

Thanks. Interesting. I don't know the rules. I just know what I have done. I obviously would have not waitlisted using regular points which would have created more holding points. I did the exact same thing at Desert Springs II in Nov 2019 (studio to 1 bed) for our 2 week Jan 2020 trip. Guess I have been fortunate with the CRSs who allowed the waitlists with holding. They have been so helpful. That is 4 weeks of upgrades this winter at the 30% discount (or 1 bedrooms for just a few more points than studios) without creating lots of holding points from my 13 month reservations.

If the rules are constant, I would for sure at least keep attempting it.
 
Appears they fixed the wording as now it says.....

Cancelling a Reservation Made with Marriott Vacation Club Destination Points Within 60 Days of Arrival:

  • If you are seeking to cancel your reservation and due to arrive 1 – 60 days from the day you cancel: Vacation Club Points will be returned to a Holding Account, however the Points Premium (if any) will be forfeited.
    • For Marriott Vacation Club Destinations Points expiring anytime in 2020 or 2021 and placed into a Holding Account, the expiration deadline will be extended through December 31, 2021, and can be used for a villa reservation or select Explorer offerings within 120 days of arrival instead of the previous 60 days of arrival. The December 31, 2021 extension will be made to your account within two weeks.
  • If you are seeking to cancel your reservation on the date of arrival or while staying at one of our resorts, Marriott Vacation Club Destination Points will not be returned.

Just did a chat cancellation for a reservation next month. Was #7 in line. Took about 5 minutes or so of waiting in queue. Cancellation took no time. Points immediately reappeared in my account (with the 120 Holding notation) and a 12/31/20 expiration. The rep said they are behind making the manual expiration adjustments but that I should see it changed to 12/31/21 within two weeks.

My holding account points extended from 12/31/2020 to 12/31/2021..the change updated in my account on Wednesday....thank you MVC
