MROP Special Assessment [Multi Resorts Ownership Plan]

I have July 4th week booked at Capri by the Sea in San Diego for my 2025 MROP week. I am going to see if I can do a conversion next year for Capital Vacation Points and book a ski week in Steamboat Springs. After that I will decide if I will keep paying for my week. I am finding this is the first year it is very difficult to get any decent exchange through Trading Places, also owned by Capital Vacations. Seems like they only have off season weeks and other weeks they rent out.

That's a great MROP week, do you have any specific priority in MROP?

Have you received the full sales pitch for CV points conversion? How many points were offered?

You would be coming into CV points at the lowest priority level (preferred in their terminology) so how much decent inventory would even be available?

I don't have any specific priority in MROP but I went online exactly when the booking window opened. I did call and ask about Steamboat Springs for this winter in the fall and there were still some ski weeks available in January and February at Sunburst resort. Last winter I traded into there through Trading Places. The point value I was told over the phone that my MROP week was worth was enough to book.
I was supposed to listen to one of the webinars a couple weeks ago but had to cancel.

How was Kuleana Club?
Were you able to listen to the Zoom Annual Meeting?
Kuleana was great. Ocean front room (1 bed), I understand from the TShare resort manager that OF usually requires an upgrade fee ($25-50). Last time we had a ground floor partial view but had the lawn to walk right out on which was nice. It's an older resort with some permanent residents. Great pool, no hot tub, gated entrance so a private beachfront, rocky/no sand. It's quiet, very few kids at the week after Thankgiving.

Met the owner of a ground floor OF unit (30 feet from the water), fixed week 47&48 that wants to sell one, I'm likely to buy if the price is right. Might be one of the best units in the complex. I see ads asking for $3k or so but not sure what he wants or if wifey will approve another. Probably have to get rid of MROP if I buy. His dues/MF are $880 while it cost me $1600 in MROP MFs to stay there (1-1/3 years MF).

MROP does have Kala Point in Port Townsend WA that is just 2 hours drive so it's not a flight expense to stay there and it's 2 bdrm, also and older resort. A old resort in Birch Bay WA also a drive to, but not much going on there and we have Worldmark a mile away which is much nicer.

Good work @Carlsbadguy . That is a great week for MROP, too bad you need to change.
Seems like many/most MROP use the weeks to exchange with. Get on exactly 18 months out and get a good trader.

If I can't find what I want next time I might try that, I have rarely traded anything.
Have an II account, never tried TPI or HTSE or RCI

With my Hawaii weeks it seems like I would always trade down considering MFs.
Plus airfare is so high, it seems like just 1 week is too short to justify considering 2 of 7 are travel days.

I just got a last minute exchange to the Maui Marriott last week using the lockoff portion from one of my Marriott timeshares. Surprisingly found last minute airfares to be about the cheapest I ever paid. Used Alaska miles to book a nonstop Hawaian flight for only 10k miles each and used my Southwest companion pass to fly home for about 19,000 points for the 2 of us.
I plan on keeping my July 4th week and if something happens will rent it out as I should easily be able to get above maintaince fees for that week. I still have 2 weeks in trading places with no matches for what I want compared to previous years. Big difference since Capital Vacations took over.

Has anyone who declined to pay the 2022 special assessment or the fees since had any further communications with MROP? For a while they had an aggressive collections firm but that stopped, at least for me.
