Question on views. How is the Ocean side view if you are in the inside of the buildings? Can you really see any ocean or beach or simply other balconies and pools? I am guessing if you are on the outside facing the hotel or Grand Dunes club house next door, you could see a lot of ocean.

Also, how is the ocean views in the back buildings? Can you see ocean or mostly the buildings and trees in front of them?

Of course, we only saw the oceanfront model and no other views. We have been searching for photos posted from others, but so far not much luck.

Just wondering how much beach and ocean you can get with each view.

Thanks!

my favorite is "ocean side"

We bought "ocean view" pre-construction because at the time they were sold out of the allotment of "ocean side." We were "upgraded" automatically for the first five years and always received "ocean view." It seems we were somehow always assigned on the "hotel" side toward the back of the building. Let me just say those units were awesome... we saw plenty of ocean and got a wonderful breeze. Those "ocean side" views are the best in my opinion.

We still haven't stayed yet in our "official" "ocean view" in one of the newer back building. I'm told you can see the ocean. Plus many people it seems want to be near the newer "woodsy" pool."

We recently stayed in the middle villa 1st floor Conch Building (Oceanside view), and yes, even from the 1st floor the ocean could be seen. I will try to attach a pic of the view from our balcony:

So, obviously a higher floor would have an even better view.

We were very pleased with our villa and location.

Ocean side is actually a better view/higher price than is Ocean View at MOW. I'm assuming the issue is you're using incorrect terminology rather than you were downgraded.

Thanks MBeach 89 for posting the pics. Yes, you can see ocean but what I see is primarily pool and resort. I wouldn't like that view as much but definitely understand why you asked for it with your little climber!
I guess this is what I am wondering: Yes, oceanside view costs more but if you get stuck on the inside of the buildings facing the pool than that is the majority of what you see. While, ocean view costs less but would be above all the pools and buildings so you would see ocean? I can't seem to find someone who enjoyed their ocean view unit yet to comment but while we were there (staying in the hotel) a few weeks ago, we saw some people on their balconies and they seemed high enough to have a great view even though they were farther back (ocean view.)

I personally wonder if part of the ocean side view price is that you are also closer to the beach, so that also increases the price.

I appreciate any other comments and pics! That would certainly help my decision...

This is the view from our oceanside balcony. (that's not haze - that's condensation on the lens) We were very happy and it's the view I'd like to purchase.

Hope it helps.

ok - i can't get the image to work but we did like the view a lot.

Thanks for trying to post that pic. Good to hear you like ocean side. I would love to hear from someone with ocean view and see that pic as well. There is a lot of ocean side - more than I would have thought. Thanks again!

clarify?

I'm not sure what you mean by incorrect terminology?

I don't have an issue with anything... we've enjoyed all of our experiences there. The term "upgraded" was Marriott's term not mine (they said they would "upgrade" us for five years). They had to "upgrade" us to the higher priced units because ours had not been constructed.

Again, remember we tried to buy Ocean View-- but at the time there were none available.

My point was that OV is lower than OS. What I read was you bought OS and were given OV, if so, you were downgraded.

We put a premium on being able to sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee (a.m.) or glass of wine (p.m.) and enjoy the sight and sounds of the ocean. Our oceanside unit provided this but I'm sure some of the low floors wouldn't. Certainly many of the oceanfront units wouldn't - the ones in the main building that look out on the pool would have a view but you probably wouldn't hear the surf.

I've never been in an oceanwiew unit but I suspect it's much too far away to satisfy my aural desires. For that reason I might rent one at the right price but I wouldn't buy one. Since many of the -front units have no better view than some of the -side units I'm not so inclined to pay the -front premium.

But that's just me. Good luck.

This is true at Grande Ocean as well where I'd venture that many of the OS units have better views than roughly 15-20% of the OF units. However, given the unit assignment priorities, it's less of an issue in real life because of the priorities given to owners.
