Is this the End of Days? TEOTWAWKI? We have Mountain Goats wandering into Town in Wales; Coyotes in San Francisco; Jaguars in Towns in Latin America; Crocodiles swimming in Canals at Resorts; Monkeys coming out of Temples fighting over food; etc.

Mankind has slowly been destroying Earth. This accelerated with the Industrial Revolution. Mother Earth slowed down Mankind with the Black Plague in the 14th Century reducing the World Population from an estimated 475 million to about 350 Million. Mothern Earth has tried several times in the last 100 years - Spanish Flu, SARS, H1N1, etc. Now Coronavirus. Nature is trying to save the Planet by eliminating or drastically reducing Mankind without hurting other life forms. If Mankind keeps fighting off Nature's attempts to save the Planet then Nature will have to resort to something more drastic that will harm other life forms. Perhaps the super volcano Yellowstone; the firing off of the Ring of Fire at one time?

Is this a joke or are you serious?

A little of both. Why do we have so many diseases cause so many problems in the last 100 years? Nature fighting back? Look at how air pollution all over the Planet has been reduced in the last 2 months. If Mankind was reduced back to Hunter/Gatherers we would be more In Tune with Nature and the Planet.

actually we had more diseases causing a lot more problems more than 100 years ago - before the discovery of bacteria, germs, viruses, vaccines, etc

Lifespan might be 45 if you were lucky 100 years ago. I think things are pretty good in 2020.

Its simple Really, God told man to have dominion over the earth and be fruitful and multiply. Also this wont be popular But remember that little encounter in the garden of Edan with a certain serpent and the tree of knowledge of good and EVIL that god said if you eat of you shall surely die. Well we all know i that turned out and worse we got kicked out of Eden and instead of living 800 to a thousand years God reduced our lifespan to 70 to 100 years. Soo now we have become so numerous that we inhabit most of the earths surface and famine and disease have a lot more targets in closer proximity that ever before. The good/bad news is we now have dominion over ALL the earth and where really fruitful and multiplied. :-/

This makes for good cocktail hour discussion. Although I don't think mother earth is doing anything intentional (conspiracy theory), I do believe this is a direct result of overpopulation and heavy meat based diets.

Bats are forced out of the forest canopy from deforestation to create farms or raise livestock to feed ever growing human population. The bat out of its environment infects the anteater (or whatever animal) that people eat from over-crowded and unsanitary wet markets which creates a petri dish for a novel virus.

Or something accidentally was released from the Wuhan Bio weapons lab near the wet market where live bats are eaten that just happened to be conveniently bulldozed shortly after the first cases showed up there.

According to Australia 60 minutes this has been disproven by some scientists.

OP the end of days, really? How many whack a doodles have predicted the end and we are all still here.

How many trees have been cut down around the world in the past thirty (30) years in the name of progress. Now asked yourself about global warming and who started and caused it? . Mankind around the planet earth.

When we cut down trees and change the environment in the name of progress, where are ocean sea animals liked salmon, tuna, sharks, whales , land animals liked squirrels, rabbits, bears, tigers, monkeys, coyotes, birds, goats, ants, insects suppose to live on earth.

Where are all these wild animals supposed to live and multiply in peace on earth.

Humans have no chance whatever to destroy the planet unless we strategically dig deep holes along tectonic ridges and implant thousands of nuclear devices to literally shere off the crust.

The time humans have been on the planet is a tiny speck along the earth's timeline. We are nothing. The planet has survived many cataclysmic events and always regenerates.

We very well may make portions of the planet uninhabitable for humans, but that's a far cry from ruining the planet. Humans can be so self centered sometimes.

Yes. Based on researchers, the strain coming out of the Wuhan seafood market is not the original virus. They now believe that bat infected a pangolin in the forested area in Wuhan but unclear how the virus jumped to human except the pangolin and human crossed path at some point.

Until this happened I had never even heard of a Pangolin. I watched a documentary on PBS the other night about the illegal trade of African and Asian Pangolins. (Yep several different varieties of them.) The documentary was very interesting and sad. The animals defense mechanism is to roll up in a ball. Not much defense against a human predator.

Like I often say, if we can remove humans from Earth then all of life's problems disappear.

This reminds me of the great scene in the Matrix where agent Smith calls humans a virus and then gives a very good argument for that thesis.

If you have Amazon Prime, and are so inclined, watch "And the band played on."

Perhaps the bats infected the pangolin in the wet market? Both are often sold there and kept in close quarters.
