5 of us were heading to Morritt's end of May on an RCI exchange for a 2 bedroom + 1 bedroom. I can't cancel my original reservation with RCI until 30 days prior. I was watching availability and did not want to risk not being able to get an exchange later this year so I booked new units for October. A 2 bedroom unit was not available until August next year so we ended up with a studio + 1 bedroom + 1 bedroom.

I have the following listed to request 10 days prior: Ocean front, Room around premier pool (definitely not park pool), Renovated room, Ground floor, Upgrade to Grand, Units next door to each other. I know it's a lot but we would be happy with anything from our list.

Q1: I thought I read some place that studios were located at the Park Pool only. Is that correct?
Q2: Do you think 2 bedrooms will become available in October - I have that on request with RCI

Thank you!

Q1: only if someone that has a confirmed reservation with RCI for a 2 bedroom cancels.
Q2: I believe that is correct.

Have you considered an ongoing search ? I've stayed at Tortuga but I was in a 2BR erd floor, no elevator facing beach. What about calling resort for layout ? We had a second week at Grand and it had elevator, newer units. Actually, we enjoyed both settings. I dont know about the specific locations but short distance to beach.

Nerodog: We've booked a two bedroom in January and are going with our 26 year old daughter and her friend. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed your trip. Any suggestions about things to do or places to go. Thank you

Made this for some friends that were first timers. It may help. Hopefully Cayman will be open by January and the resort reopened.
Things you must do!

https://www.caymancrystalcaves.com/

https://www.botanic-park.ky/nature/the-blue-iguana-habitat/

https://www.stingraycitycaymanislands.com/ - we usually hook up with a bartender at the resort named Norman to go on his boat with other guests, I can FB message him to get you on his boat that week. He is a really fun guy and its probably the most famous thing to do in the Caymans. Just let me know if you want me to reach out. Or any one you book though will be good. The beach that the boats leave from for sting ray city is called rum point is also a super fun beach to hang out at https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...ws-Rum_Point-Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html

Drive over to the other side of the island to “seven mile beach” https://www.visitcaymanislands.com/en-us/experiences/beaches/seven-mile-beach-grand-cayman and stop and visit George town (the cruise ship port) https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g147366-George_Town_Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands-Vacations.html If you are over on that side and looking for a fancy but AMAZING dinner https://www.grandoldhouse.com/ Grand old house is your spot. Yes its expensive but unforgettable sunset view s on a dock with amazing food. We spend the whole day over on that side then bring a change of clothes and change at this public beach called smiths cove which has showers and a bathroom https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...s-Smith_Cove-Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html

Food!

The Italian kitchen –
we love this place, its right across from the resort which is nice because you can walk there. https://www.italiankitchencayman.com/

Tukka-
great dinner but also on Sunday they do an amazing AYCD brunch, the restaurant offers a free shuttle that will pick you up from the resort so you don’t have to worry about driving. Ask the front desk at the hotel to call for the shuttle for you. https://www.tukka.ky/menus/brunch/

Eagle Rays-
You MUST eat the lion fish tacos! They are the best fish tacos I have ever had!!! https://compasspointdiveresort.com/dining/eagle-ray-bar-grill Good place for dinner but also a great place for lunch

Over the edge-
A staple restaurant, super casual but legit Cayman food. Get the conk fritters and Caribbean lobster https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...-Old_Man_Bay_Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html

The light house
- If you want to do a fine dining place, but it is expensive https://www.lighthouse.ky/

Taco Cantina- Great taco place for dinner https://www.facebook.com/caymantaco/

Big Tree BBQ- Great local Caribbean BBQ, can get food to go and bring back to place as its literally a local place in there front yard lol

Mimis- the dock bar at the resort, a great place to chill in and do dinner or lunch.

Picking up food and beer for the resort!

Grocery Store-
Fosters Grocery store- 33 Hurst Road Grand Cayman KY KY1 1500, 33 Hirst Rd, Savannah, Cayman Islands (I would hit that on your way down from the airport driving to the resort) A LOT of grocery stores are closed Sundays so be careful of that. I would hit that if you guys need specialty food or think you will be eating in a lot.

I have an ongoing search set up with RCI but wanted to figure out what I would be dealing with if it didn't come through. I've stayed there twice before in a 2 bedroom unit each time -- once ocean front and once at Premier Pool. Both locations were perfect.

I have been searching for a second week either before or after our week in late January. I am very surprised that it is that difficult to get. In years past, the Tortuga always had a bulk space banking. We love it there.
