I do not care about the named of the state agency that enforced the law. I just want all scammers to go to jail.
Do not passed GO. Go directly to Jail. These scammers need to serve prison time with some heavy fines.
Also, I wish all states Consumers Affairs Departments would go after timeshares scammed more aggressively.
While I would not object prison time, I think a more appropriate punishment would be for the scammers to pay restitution to their victims with interest and penalties. Then put them on probation to make sure that they don't resort to their old ways. Heck, if it were up to me, I might just offer some sort of plea deal to avoid jail time if they can help the authorities nab other scammers.
And again, while I would not completely object to jail time, if you were one of the victims, which would you rather see? These people pay you back with interest and damages or be fed, clothed, and housed in prison at your (the taxpayer's) expense? And besides, I personally would not classify them as a violent danger to society.
Nonetheless, I hope that the authorities continue to pursue, nab, and punish these scammers. Judging from the number of posts we see here on TUG where someone says, "This company just called me saying they can sell my...for thousands of dollars", it appears that the authorities have a lot of work on their hands shutting down these many operations.
