More assisted living drama stories - Aunt Z got kicked out

Sandi Bo, you are an angel! I know how hard it is. My 104 year old mother is in her third place. This last is a nice facility for assisted living and memory care. The nursing section is woefully lacking. She pays $16,000 a month only for us to be told that she may only have a shower every five days. She can't see. She can't hear well. She has Parkinson's and her hands shake. She can no longer use a telephone of any kind or a remote control. She can't participate in group activities. Her greatest joys are having a shower, washing her own hair and rinsing off several times, and the chocolates we bring her and set out on her table. They say they can't afford for an aide to stand there with her to take a shower more frequently. I've been told I can hire someone to give her a shower. Every complaint is answered with what I can do, not what they can do. It's so frustrating and the other places I would even consider have turned her down because of her age. I don't know what I'd do if they said she had to leave! I don't know what we'll do if she outlives her money. It's just so sad and frustrating.

$16,000 per month !?!
Here in CA I've heard of some high prices -- but that amount is crazy.
