Monarch Room requests...

Hi all,

We are owners at Monarch, but have never stayed there. We traded our Barony week into Monarch so that we will have two units when we visit for the for time this summer. Traveling with toddler (2.5) and grandparents.

A couple of questions...

1) as an owner, I assume you are automatically given your actual deeded unit. Is there any flexibility there and if so, what do you know/think about our unit and location -- Magnolia #3545. Should/can I request somewhere else?

2) For our second unit (the grandparents), we would like to get two units next to each other. Any idea if this is feasible?

Thanks for your insight. It just dawned on me that I better call and make my room request for the exchanged week, but just thought I would find out if there was anything special to consider/ask for before doing so.

We own at Monarch as well, although we have never stayed there either. Our unit is also in the Magnolia building (3541). Ours is next to the lobby but on the fourth floor which in that section is the top floor. The next two sections of the Magnolia building have five floors. Yours is closer to the Dogwood units and is also on the fourth floor.

I do not know the process for requests at the Monarch. My guess would be that requests would depend upon what owners are there occupying their owned units. Monarch does a lot of renting since many of us use it as a point driver resort, so the unit next to you or close to you could very well be non owner occupied. If so, I would expect that once they know you are an owner they will try their best to accomodate you, maneuvering the renters.

I would be curious after you stay to hear about how you like it compared to the Barony.

I'm not a Marriott owner but exchanged into Monarch thru RCI, off season. I called ahead and put in a request for ocean front building, no promises were given. They told me what day room assignments were made, I called back that day. Still no promises. But at check-in I requested that again, and got assigned one of the finest units in the complex, 3rd or 4th floor direct oceanfront, and I think it was even a corner unit.

So call ahead and ask, noting what day assignments are made, and call again, and ask again at check-in, and I'm sure as owners you would have much higher priority than I did - I would have been at the bottom of the totem pole. There are lots of non-oceanfront and only a few oceanfront. Sorry, don't remember building names.
 
If you are traveling in high season there won't be as much flexibility. They are usually pretty good about putting two units together, though.
 
You won't get your unit since you traded back into the resort. Also, I'm assuming that you have a floating week. If so, you really don't even own a unit/week combination. You should contact Monarch directly with your requests. Being an owner there will have a lot of weight.
 
Thanks. Sounds like there are no real "tips" per se,other than to just call and put in a requestand call back on room assignment day.

We own one fixed week and one week we traded in, so just wasn't sure if there was some optimal way to coordinate. I'll just try asking for an oceanfront building, high floor, two units together and see what goes.

I didn't understand your original post. If I am ready your last post correctly, you have a week at Monarch that is fixed and that you will use. You also traded a Barony week and got the same week (as your fixed week) at Monarch.

If this is correct, you will definitely get your building type (ocean front, etc.) for the fixed week. Call them and make sure that you let them know that you want both units in the same building/floor. I think that your chances are good. Marriott generally takes care of the owners.
 
I would like to suggest that you contact Marriott reservation center in HH directly and ask them for joining villas ( and tell them that you are traveling with your grandparents).

ahhh...that's what i was trying to figure out...sounds like I will get my actual building, but not necessarily my unit, then. So, I will call and just request an adjoining unit. I was kind of hoping there was a chance of getting upgraded to a better view, but doesn't sound too likely. Beggars probably shouldn't be choosy, so I guess I should focus on what's most important which is two rooms together.
