II has put a 2BD at Marriott Maui Ocean Club (Apr 2009) on hold for me !!! I only have about six hours to confirm (they sure don't give you much time for checking in on flights!).

What are the room category codes for MMO (each code representing a type of view?) ? I would like to confirm with II what room view for the week/unit they are holding for me before confirming.

UPDATE: the code of the unit on hold is "ZZAC"

I think that's a generic code for 2 bedroom lockoff. I'm not sure if you can know in advance (of the confirmation with II) what room type it is.

If you were able to snag a 2 bedroom in April, take it! Even if it turns out to be mountain view, that's an incredible exchange, fabulous resort. JMHO.

yes, we will confirm it b/c its the 2nd week of our spring break trip we want it to end up with a 'bang' !

funny at ko olina, the code Ii provides does mean a specific view. i guess each resort differs.

Great trade. How are the flight looking? I know in the Hawaii section people listed that Continenal had some RT fare from LAX for less then $400.

At Marriott's Kauai Beach Club and Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club, ZZAA is a 2-bedroom ocean-view villa.

I don't know what ZZAC is.

An exchange into 2-bedroom at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club is a great trade, regardless of the view.

No clue - we booked our four seats around June 2008

I don't know what the view is for that code, but it probably doesn't matter. I believe Maui is one of the Marriott resorts that assigns units based on ownership at the resort and renters from Marriott, with exchangers pretty much at the bottom of the barrel. However, call a couple of weeks before you go and make a view or location request. It can't hurt.

I agree with the others. It's a great trade. Do it!

DONE DEAL! Front desk informed me ZZAC is a garden view : )

It is all good though, we even have three bathrooms !!!

Try to request one of the garden views that opens to the interior of the pool. Sometimes you can get a pool view with a peek at the ocean.

Dave, how does this work since I own at Maui. If I were to deposit a Maui week and exchange back into Maui would that help my trade at all since I own there? I always thought I would get what the other person deposited into II, is that not the case?

I'm not positive for Maui, but I do think it's one of the resorts where exchangers don't automatically get the view of the unit that you confirm through II. However, in assignments to specific units, as an owner at Maui, you should have preference over other exchangers who are (1) Marriott owners at other Marriott resorts and (2) all non-Marriott owners.

It's up to the resort to determine what the priority is at that resort for assigning units.

Thanks Dave, this is good to know. Thanks for your wealthj of information, we all appreciate it.

My experience is that you get what the owner deposited. In several trades (before and after I became an owner), I have always received the view that was in the confirmation. However, my confirmation always included either OF (ocean front), OV (ocean view), or IV (island view).

You are in the main building and asking for a pool view is a great idea. The grounds are beautiful to look at and over the pool too. Ask if you can get a higher floor so your view is even better. You may even see the ocean too the higher you are. I hope you won't get the dumpster view like Perry seems to get according to his posts. I wouldn't like that nor would you.

lol that dumster view is legend around these parts...and it has even made its way to some sales staff!

does that zzac room code tell you its in the main bldg?

I formerly owned at the MMO and when I traded back into MMO through II, I was treated as an owner and always got an ocean view. I am currently staying at the MMO on an II trade in a 3rd floor ocean front, which was the unit that was deposited. Wonderful unit, I worked around the kitchen issue, the view made it worthwhile.

Enjoy the trip.

Aloha

what do you mean by 'I worked around the kitchen issue' ?

how do you know the OV's you got in the past were not deposited units?

yes,the count down has begun !

Only the main building has three bathrooms for the 2 BR units. The new towers have two bathrooms only for the 2 BR units. I don't know about the 3 BR units but you can find the floor plans here (suites) and here (villas).

You will enjoy the resort and Maui too. There is enough to keep you busy for a week! Don't forget the Haleakala crater which is so different from the beach. :D Enjoy your trip. :hi:

PS.
The 3 BR units at the new towers have three bathrooms and they should have that, of course. These 3 BR units are SO NICE!

the front desk rep just told me there are only three 2bd units that overlook the pool. wow talk about limited supply !

I guess it's debatable whether I will actually get the room view on my reservation, but just for curiosity's sake, does anyone know what a TBOV stands for at MM1? I'm guessing two bedroom ocean view.
