The sales agent said that all tier 1 owners and PR get an automatic upgrade at 60 days. The system automatically blocks the next size unit for upgrade on absolutely every reservation.

Right!

She said that you can't see all of the availability UNLESS you own tier one (Midtown 45, Canterbury, etc). She also said that all of those "Limited availability" days are proof to what she is saying.

Right!

So she offered us 1 million Midtown 45 for the low, low, price of $253,000.

They fed 7 people breakfast. I got 15,000 rewards points. Breakfast was at 8. I started advising her of the time at 9. She said that the gift person didn't come in until 9:30. So when she did bring us to gifting at 9:30, my husband asked the girl what time she came into work. She said 8:30. We had also been told that they didn't even look at out account because they have such a high check in and out rate they didn't need to try to sell to owners. Wrong again.

Lies. Lies. Lies!

The last time we were there, after check-in we tried to rush past the weasel into the open elevator but it was full. People in the elevator had a good laugh.

About six months ago on Facebook someone posted a photo of their breakfast. It looked like eggs warmed under a heat lamp and day old bacon.

$253/1,000.

And you walked away from that? Sounds like a heckuva deal!

It is that kind of talk that started this whole thing. We went to our first timeshare presentation at Bonnet Creek. They said that we would never be able to stay there unless we owned there. I took that gift card and bought my first resale.

1.5 million points later...

Yep, Lots of good deals but only til December 31

That's the standard MSRP for local sales centers IME. I've been to three different centers now, all used $253/1000 as the starting point. None of them would go below $145/1000 IME.

Would not go below 245 or 145 per 1,000?

The floor for negotiations at least up to 300k points has been $145/1000 IME - that's for CWA points. If they are selling CWS points, I would imagine it varies per resort.

Thanks. We were at Midtown recently and they were looking at about 215/1000 for select. Told us Midtown is most expensive property.

Points are points after 10 months. . .

What is Tier 1? at Wyndham 45? I paid way too much for my 900,000 points there and don't know what Top Tier means.

Points are points unless there are certain places you want at popular times. Depends on your interest.
10 months out does not usually get you midtown 45 (probably Bonnet Creek also) at Christmas, New Years, month of December or Royal Vista in the winter months.
That is when you weigh how important it is for you to book further out than 10 months.
Of course Worldmark comes in at 9 months.
Also interested in the definition of term Tier 1.

Just another sales ploy. There is no such thing as Tier 1. PR might be considered the top because of how expensive it is, but no one resort is better then another.

At Midtown, they use Tier 1, 2 and 3 as a sales point. Tier 1 is beaches and cities (but they didn't consider National Harbor Tier 1), Tier 3 are the old "Legacy" resorts. What's left is Tier 2. I think that they were tying this into RCI TPUs...it seemed like there was a direct correlation.

Just confusing. I don't know of any other resort that uses this terminology, but I've heard it from 3 or 4 NYC sales ladies.

If some is at Midtown at some point and the pitch includes a reference to the tier system, maybe ask them for a list of Tier 1 resorts.
