[MERGED] T&L expands Sports Illustrated Resorts portfolio with New Vacation Ownership Destination in Nashville

From the Q3 TNL earnings call (bolding added for emphasis):

"Chris Woronka, Analyst, Deutsche Bank: Okay. Thanks, Michael. Very, very helpful perspective. Just as a follow-up, you know, you guys last quarter, I think, announced this other Sports Illustrated Resorts development in Chicago. I know that that’s an existing hotel property. Can you maybe talk a little bit about whether you see a lot of additional opportunities there, specifically on that? I know you’re going to continue on Margaritaville and now Eddie Bauer Adventure Club, but on Sports Illustrated Resorts specifically, do you see a lot of these kind of urban hotels? Maybe you know it’s a brand issue or something else where you guys can come in and, you know, convert to timeshare. If you could maybe just give us a little bit of a sense as to kind of economics. I think you’re going with the asset-led model up front of those. Add a little color on that would be very helpful. Thanks.

Michael Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer, Travel + Leisure Co.: Absolutely. We’re very excited about Sports Illustrated Resorts. I know there would be some competitive commentary amongst other urban locations, but we know that Chicago is a great sports town, one of the best in the U.S. There are many others that definitely have our eye. Given where the real estate market is, we mentioned in the last call, I think the last two calls, that at this point in time in the cycle, conversions are a better opportunity for us and for many people than Greenfield development. We’ve now got three resorts announced for Sports Illustrated Resorts. We will start sales by the end of this year, as we’ve previously committed to, and no change to that. At this stage, we’ll go where the market leads us. It’s to great urban locations. In the last two examples, conversions.

I will, though, come back to our original outlook on Sports Illustrated Resorts, as we see lots of opportunities in college towns. We continue to pursue those options. Just because our last two are in urban destinations, don’t think that that’s a shift in strategy. We will be announcing over the upcoming quarters more college locations because we think that’s a tremendous market as well."

Was looking through Extra Vacations in RCI and found that for most of Q1 2026 they are offering Extra Vacations at the SI Chicago for $350 a week with both studios and 1 bedroom units at that price. Check-in is on Saturday for most weeks with most reviews for the hotel as Virgin still being fairly solid. Will be interesting to experience staying in the middle of the conversion.

I notice on https://www.sportsillustratedresorts.com/ that the sight seems ‘open for business’ with mostly marketing fluff but with a login capability. They have a ‘Varsity Pass’ which allows you to use your Sports Illustrated points to book 45+ other results .. all of the top Wyndham resort locations! I suppose that could be inventory that Wyndham currently owns under their own account. Also you can use Sports Illustrated points to exchange into RCI. So wouldn’t it make sense that these Sports Illustrated resorts would have to be listed on RCI when available?

Being a software geek, I figured they might use the Wyndham Online system to support the Sports Illustrated site. So I tried logging into their site with my Wyndham credentials. It accepts Username and Password and recognizes my mobile number to text me the MFA code! Once entered, it crashes with a SportsIllustrated error message.

Well the website might be open for business, but do they have any actual locations open?

RCI has Extra Vacations (no exchanges or Last Call) for the Chicago location checking in as early as 1/3/26.

Traditional timeshare is a fast dying breed. Wyndham timeshare points are free on many sites. Many many older folks are giving away their timeshares to anyone who will take them. So, T&L is trying to diversify and find a way yo market to a younger crowd. Call it Sports Illustrated Vacation Club and maybe, just maybe, you can get some young folks to buy. Then, slowly dump the old timeshare locations, let them go bankrupt and slowly transition to properties that appeal to a new group of younger owners - and try to maintain overall profitability of T&L. Makes perfect sense.

I've booked a week in February and 2 weeks in March because the rates are so cheap for the location (1 bedrooms for $350 plus taxes)

the sports illustrated resorts do not show up in searches on the website for me (platinum VIP), so not really live yet?
No, definitely not live. I found them by googling, not by searching using the Club Wyndham website search. But I was actually a little surprised to even see placeholder/in-progress pages at all, which suggests there will be a way for (at least some subset of) Club Wyndham owners to book these resorts directly. I took note during the annual owners meeting that there was no indication that this would be the case. (Without going back and finding the segment, as I recall they did say that the Eddie Bauer resorts might become available through Club Pass via Worldmark, but there wasn't even that level of confirmation for whether we'd get access to SI resorts.)

The Chicago and Nashville locations have been available on Wyndham Rewards for a couple months. 15k WR points per night, which is not awful.

64 Sports Illustrated Nashville units currently available as RCI Extra Vacations from September, 2026 through May, 2027.

What is that point and cash option? I've never seen anything like that before. Is that just straight RCI? Some new feature?

There are not 47 Sports Illustrated resorts. Hence, 45-ish reciprocal Club Wyndham resorts. WorldMark and Margaritaville resorts are not part of it, at least directly.
So is it something through ClubPass? Is that screen shot from the Club Wyndham website or Worldmark? I tried searching for availability and there is none. I'm still not even sure where you're seeing this.

It is from the (Wyndham) sportsillustratedresorts.com website.
So, it seems to be reciprocity for Sports Illustrated owners to book into Club Wyndham or Margaritaville. Three Margaritaville properties are listed. Not necessarily the ability for Club Wyndham to book into Sports Illustrated.

I guess some people can add 2+2, and other people need to wait for the answer to be handed to them.
Where do I go to use by Club Wyndham points to book SI?

Where do I go to use by Club Wyndham points to book SI?
Look to the relationship between WorldMark and the Eddie Bauer Adventure Club, where WorldMark owners can book Eddie Bauer Moab directly for the last 6 months (that is "2") then give it a few months for Club Wyndham to book into Sports Illustrated (that is the "plus 2").
