I need to memorize a short speach. It is basically a list of items so that participants in the meeting know the ground rules and logistics. It's about 20 items but I'm having a hard time. Any memorization tips?

I would not memorize it, but I would practice it.

Ideas:

Use an index card during your speech to remind yourself of the topics you want to cover, or

Use an overhead projector to show previously created slides, or

Create a power point type presentation.

Wish I could as it is a list but it must be from memory. Just the way things are.

I used to have to give a lot of speeches. If I couldn't use even index card(s) with bullet reminders, I've written like the first letter of a reminder on the palm of my hand, just to be sure I didn't miss an important point I wanted to get across. But if you can't do anything.....

Practice, practice, practice!

Create a "visual story" of each item in the list interacting with the next -- make the interaction as humorous and "active" as possible. As you are reciting the list to the group -- see the story in your mind's eye.

Example: If your list is:

• Mute phones
• Use the "raise hand" feature of the conferencing software
• Submit questions using the "Ask" button

Your story might be: Phone falls from the sky slamming down on a human hand. The hand, now in pain and panic, starts waving and fingerspelling the letters A-S-K ... good luck!

I don't know if this will help, but maybe.

I am required to memorize long lists, facts and numerous details weekly while in college. I use an online index card - game playing site to practice.

after you save your stack make it private and no one else can view it.

Add: You need to sign up for an account to do a study stack (card file). They have never contacted me and I've used the site for over 2 years for several subjects. AND ITS FREE.

Whenever I had to memorize something, I would take the 1st letter of each item and make up a sentence with each word beginning with a letter of the word on my list. I always made the sentence relate to the topic so I wouldn't forget it. You can rearrange the letters until you have a fitting sentence.

It always workrd for me. In fact my classmates liked to study with me when we had to memorize and it worked for them too.
