I paid my maintenance fees recently, and was surprised to see there was $150 membership fee added on to the maintenance fee. Looks like this is an annual thing.

Why do we have pay that? I'm assuming this is just part of the whole "Time Share" experience, but I don't recall being told I would also get hit with that.

I bought in Nanea, so we didn't get any charges until the place opened.

Hope there are no other surprises... Meh.

The membership fee is because you are a part of the SVN network and have staroptions. They will also set up an interval international account for you and the fee for that is included in the membership fee. The fee is annual and is usually billed around the same time as MF's.

I thought the Interval Int'l account was good for 2 years, and then after that you have to pay for it yourself....

Sounds like the VSN fee is going up to $150 next year?

If you buy a resale non mandatory week, you have to pay for your own II account. With Marriott, back when they sold weeks, I think if you bought directly from Marriott, they gave you an II account that was free for the first two years then you had to pay yourself. With Vistana, if you buy developer or own a mandatory resale, you have to pay the VSN fee annually.

Does anyone own flexoptions that they bought direct and if so how much is the VSN fee? Flexoptions like Nanea exchange points directly with II instead of weeks. Many systems that use points directly automatically are gold II members. It may be the higher fee covers the Gold II membership. In terms of the two years, it may be that with the developer purchase they pay for 2 years of platinum and after that it reverts back to gold.
