have so many problems with this story...its frustrates me to no end and id be willing to bet this is a FAR more common experience than not.

1. the resorts response to a paid off owner for decades who is now disabled. fail
2. the BBB representative pretending they dont have scammers with A+ BBB ratings. fail
3. the BBB actually trying to promote exit/cancellation scams that have A+ ratings as better than non BBB acredited exit/cancellation scammers. fail

hope this lady follows through with her threat to stop paying.

"We reached out to Meadow Lake and they said 'We'll get back to you'..."

I thought ARDA, would come in and protect timeshare owners liked this. LOL

appears these owners finally got vacatia to step in and "encourage" the resort to take it back... only took a news story!

I am curious about the new timeshare company industry group that formed a new "timeshare consumer protection center" that was plugged at the end of the video. Even mentioning where she talked with the CEO. Do you know anything about that? Is that CEO just Jason Gamel from ARDA? If that is all it is, it's a big nothing-burger. Perhaps we just need to watch for next weeks Dollars & Sense spot?

Wow the suspense. Tune in next week to Dollars and Sense. Happy Vactia come to their senses.

I'm glad she was able to get out, but it seems she was on the right path in the begining. Just stop paying. In the end it is the other owners who bear the financial burden of her week now being owned by the HOA. I know that Vacatia provides rental services, so perhaps they can monetize the week in that way until the HOA is able to find another owner. I wonder what kind of resale program they have?

These stories also always lack details about what the owner actually tried to do to get rid of the timeshare. Did they offer it up for free on listing sites, Facebook, TUG or anywhere else? People always say there is no exit strategy without trying to first just give the week away.

It seems like the first time she reached out to the HOA, she wasn't in contact with the right department or people. Did they have a hardship relinquishment program or is that something that Vacatia just made up?

yes, we announced this a few months back. its ARDAs latest effort to combat exit companies.
