Hi--We are HGVC owners (Kingsland@Waikaloa and Valdoro@ Breckenridge. We used some Bonus points to book a one bedroom at McAlpin and I'm sorry to tell you we are not interested in buying yours....and we haven't been to McAlpin in quite awhile, but we made reservations for a one bedroom end of December. We are older and we are now wondering if we would be sorry? Is it going to be so loud with partying and we won't be able to sleep? What's it like "these days?"--if you don't mind me asking.

Stayed there in December in the past 2 years. Never been bothered by any noise during the night. Also stayed in a 1BR, the 2 BR at the front might have a little more noise, but I actually doubt that. The properties on either side of the MacAlpin are not really party locations. I would not be worried about being able to sleep because of partying.

I was there in mid December last year and it was reasonably quiet in a 2BR. I think the only time it was noisy was when they were having their Christmas music and light show on a Friday.

I have a reservation for next year, let me know how everything was

HGVC South Beach (McAlpin & Ocean Plaza) is at the North end of Ocean Drive (Ocean Drive between 14th and 15th).

This end of Ocean Drive is pretty quiet and has less traffic and fewer people. The location is the best part of Ocean Drive. It's close to all the best restaurants and the quieter part of the beach.

It's a fantastic property and I've found it great when I was younger, childless and into going out late and even now that I'm older, with a younger kid and call it a night earlier.

Enjoy your stay.

We loved it. Check out the resort review I wrote if you want details! Miami Beach was wonderful and I'd like to go back. Our room wasn't facing Ocean Blvd. and we barely heard anything even during the Miami Beach Christmas celebrations. Weather was perfect and plenty of restaurants close by and easy walk to uncrowded beach. We had a lot of our meals in because we had just come off a cruise. So glad it was a short drive to Trader Joes and Publix and I stocked up. Didn't have any problem with parking in the garage myself and it was a short walk. Thanks to Tall Paul, he unloaded our luggage and groceries plus escorted my blind husband to the room while I parked the car and vice versus on check out.

Loved it! Sorry I'm just now replying! I definitely recommend it. Wrote a favorable review when I got back!

Just noticed resorts you own and they are great choices. I bought Breck when my son lived in Boulder. He used it like it was a country club. I enjoyed it very much until I got asthma and the elevation affected me more and more. I haven't been here in years so I go elsewhere or on cruises.

We’re making a last minute run down to Miami from West Palm Beach on the Brightline today. We will have about 5 hours to roam around down there before heading back to WPB. It’s been about 25 years since I’ve been to South Beach and my inclination is to Uber over there to roam around, have lunch overlooking the ocean and checking out McAlpin.

Looking for any other options or recommendations for lunch.

Thx!

There are many outdoor cafes near the McAlpin but the beach is not visible at that end of South Beach. Frankly, I enjoyed watching and even hearing the palms sway in the park across the street while eating lunch outdoors. Across the street there is access to the broad beach with its' colorful lifeguard booths.

No worries. We did take the Brightline down late Friday am and I was kind of hungry when we arrived at the station and decided to do a Lunch Special at the Wolf of Tacos right at the station. We had less than 5 1/2 hours to explore the area and took a Lyft to South Beach and walked up Ocean from Fifth to McAlpin and Tall Paul helped us check a room out. We then wandered around on the streets behind McAlpin and ended up on Lincoln Rd. I had last been to SB about 25 years ago and remembered a street that was closed to traffic that had a bunch of restaurants. I'm not sure if it was Lincoln or somewhere else, but nothing looked familiar. The tacos kind of held me and we never ended up eating anywhere on SB, other than grabbing an ice cream. Based on the price/time for a Lyft back. we decided to take a city bus (Line 100) back to a street about 4 blocks from the Brightline station. The bus ride was like the scene described in the CSN song Marrakeh Express (minus the Ducks, Pigs and Chickens) although we did see a Rooster on the street after we got off the bus.

Glad we took the adventure and it was a fun day that we can laugh about for awhile.

That's got to be the street my boss and I walked down 25 years ago. Thx. I was also trying to figure out where we stayed for our conference, but I think that's a lost cause.

We have eaten at one of the restaurants on that street each time we have stayed there. It's a great place to have a meal at night with all the lights.
