Will be in Mazatlan Feb. 24th 2006 with friends and family. We really enjoy the fishing. Anyone have any suggestions on who to call? Fishing tips? We have been there several years ago but I am sure things have changed. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

We have gone fishing in Mazatlan each time we have been there the last 3 years. We stay at El Cid El Moro Towers and book through the Aries Fleet. They go out of the El Cid Marina. We have had fairly good luck with them. The first year we got 4 Mai Mai :) and the 2nd year my husband and his cousin each got a sailfish :) We had ours frozen and brought it home. The resorts will fix your fish for dinner too if you bring some back. We usually take a cooler on rollers with us....we put snack foods or anything that we will use up during our stay. Then when we catch fish we get it frozen and take it home with us. If you do that be sure to take some duck tape to seal the cooler after it is checked when you check-in at the airport and then it will not be opened again. The fish stays frozen all the way home. Last year they got skunked :( The Ocean was pretty rough so they came in early.

In March we will be staying right at the El Cid Marina and Yacht Club so that should be fun. We can go down anytime and watch the boats come in everyday very easily. We do that when we stay in Cabo at the Playa Grande as we are just up the hill from the Marina there.

Another reputable outfit is Escualo Fleet Sport Fishing, departing Dock #10 of the Marina Mazatlan (next to Marina El Cid). They have an office and tackle shop across from the Hotel Fiesta Inn, or call 913-03-03.
