Last time we went there, the Mayan was under reno with the old part. It looked like the new condos would be A -1. Is it done and is it nice? The reviews are a year old. Sure do like PV ,the people, area and buses ! Any info on the beaches would be great. Thanks Ray:)

Hi Ray. We were at the MP PV in November (was it nearly 2 months ago?)and they are starting unit refurbishment. Our friends had a refurbished unit, we did not, but frankly, while the refurbuished units are nice I would'nt be declining a unit on that basis. The construction I think you are referring to are the Grand Mayan units across the street, overlooking the Marina, where the old Sea Garden and the waterpark(?) used to be. They are madly seliing those along with regular MP and their Regncy membership, but what else is new. There appears to be some activity on the GM site, and they apparently have a show unit, but I don't think they have started above ground construction yet.

The beach is nothing spectacular - not as nice as at the MP Nuevo Vallarta, where a river has been rerouted (whether natually or by man I did not inquire) and of course the beach at Bucerias is wonderful.

PV will be just as great as you remember, except that there are many more condos going up and the traffic may be more chaotic.. But Victor's is still in the Marina, the beer and the Margarita's are muy frio y muy bueno and the MP PV was running a bunch of dining deals when we were there.. yup just about perfect. :whoopie:

We were at the MP PV in I think the Summer of 2005 (it could have been 2006, it certainly was not 2007). They had the Grand Mayan demo area built then and had the Sea Garden closed. It seem like a long time for them to get the construction done on that Grand Mayan in PV. With the way they build their other resorts that they should be done with that new GM by now. I wonder what the holdup is.

Was just at the MP Mayan Palace in April 2007 and then at MP Nuevo Vallarta Jan. 11-18th. Some minor renovations in the main building happening. The owner is building (or they are making) the top level of the main building into the owners private suite. I think it's the whole top floor. Also a heli pad. Ask to stay in the Xel-Ha (pronounced shell-ha) building or Xcaret they are closest to the pool and beach. Was quiet there. Ask for ocean view, upper levels. It was nice! Grand Mayan much nicer than Mayan Regency.

I like the older units in the building towards the beach too. I did not know the name of the building, but the last time we were there, we had a unit in that building and my brother, SIL, and son had one in the newer building (over the lobby). I liked ours best - it was a little different from the regular MP layout. The location of this MP is SUPER! Be sure to go the the Buenos Aries Steak House for an awesome dinner ($$$) and Victor's for breakfast, lunch or just a few beers. You can catch the bus to town right across the street from the resort.
