I know this has been asked in the past but I am having trouble searching for the answer. I have a unit in the Royal Islander and that it can sleep 6 comfortably but it looks like we might have 8 going this year. Do they allow 8 per room ( will certainly pay extra, a lot of towels) and do they have rollaway beds for rent? Tight quarters for sure or would it be better to try and rent a lockout unit for the week ??

HI,

You should probably call ISCO, but my recollection is that the villas only allow 6 adults, with the children not counting in that number. Personally, I would rent a lockoff because I hate to be crowded on vacation.

yeah, they are pretty strict about that unless the 7th person is a child. I would call ISCO and see what you can work out.

6 Adults, up to 2 children

That's what we were told. The official capacity is 6. When I talked to the resort they said that we could have 6 adults and up to 2 children in a villa. We have stayed with 8 in a villa twice. Both times 4 of the 8 were children. Are any of your group children?

I am curious what other's experiences are - how many have exceded the 6 rule without problems. We would like to travel with 4 adults and 3 children, which sounds like it would not be a problem. When we were previewing the Haciendas during a RM exchange last year, the host told us that the rule was not strictly enforced.

Does the "checkout pass" that you receive when you pay your final bill have anything to do with the occupancy rule since they ask you how many people are leaving or are they mainly concerned with adults that may skip out on a bill?

INHO, I hope the Royals DO strictly enforce the occupancy rule. There is a reason for this, beyond the actual villa towels, etc. If all of the villas allowed more than 6 adults, can you imagine how crowded the pools, beach, restaurants, etc. would be? I have recently read complaints about the difficulty of getting chairs around the pools, palapas on the beach, etc. NOW, so I can only imagine how bad it would be it they did not strictly enforce the occupancy rules. I think that one of the reasons the Royals are so highly loved is not only the AWESOME service of the people who work there, but that fact that it is really not crowded, for the size of the resorts (For comparison, have you ever been to the Mirage pool in Vegas? WOW was that crowded. The people were packed in like sardines. My husband and I keep mentioning how lucky we are at the Royals!)

I agree. You can squeeze in 8 people but neither you nor your neighbours will apreciate it.
I have seen a lot of people in some of the units but usually mostly children, having 8 adults could cause far more inconvenience specially for the cleaning crew who I am sure will get frustrated.
The nice thing about the Royals is that most of the owners usually just want the convenience of the extra space and on some occasions one or two visitors. Not much of a vacation when you have too many people in a small area, day in and day out.

I think some folks have translated this into 8 adults.

My experiences at the Royal Caribbean for adult capacities, we've always been told 6 and you can pay for one extra.

for the question about the cehckout ... it really is just to show you paid your bill, and once you have it you can still purchase things at the restaurants, mini markets and gift shop and pay with cash. You have to show your checkout card to the folks outside waiting to hand over your luggage or get you into your airport transportation. they are pretty good about getting everyones card in that hectic frenzy. I've never seen them compare the people on it and count heads. When we have a full villa, we don't all venture outside at the same time.

Occupancy is 6 people officially, but look at it logically. You have 1 king that sleeps two adults and two full size beds that sleep two adults each, then you have two twin murphy beds. That adds up to 8 people. The unit will sleep eight they way they have it outfitted.

Yes, it will take more than six if people don't mind being on top of each other and owners can pay a fee for an additional person. But exchangers are limited to six.

I'd say the original poster would be well advised to take his own suggestion and rent a lockoff for extra space.

I do not have an Islander Club memebership contract, but most say six, with a seventh OK if under 15. Call ISCO at 1-800-930-5050 and ask. If you do not tell them in advance you just might be escorted out of the resort when found out- and they will find out.
