In an online newsletter, owners received good news on the tax appeal! Maui County has agreed to a settlement with a 10% reduction in the property tax bill for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. The board felt that the settlement was the best way to resolve this ongoing appeal. If they proceeded to the Board of Appeals they would have to prove that we were over appraised by 20%, and given the property values on Maui, they felt they would not have been successful. Approximately $45,000 (the refund we will receive for the 2007-2008 property taxes) will be put into reserves and our board will decide what to do with the 2008-2009 credit of approximately $43,000 in September at our budget meeting.
