Why does he have to honor that price?
word is bond or else we may as well be in jungle

Although maybe in meantime somebody did offer him more and I understand from his stance if somebody offer more obv ud take it , and maybe he just being honest and saying sorry I got higher offer in meantime if u wanna match it u can …then it’s totally justified
.. great lesson on not being too quick to judge people

if he does not honor the price drop to 450. I do not want him on this site and will never deal with him. Do not drop the asking price. Then start a bid process. Just No!

I would hate to condemn someone without knowing the whole story.

Have you read the thread?

Yes. Do you know the whole story? Unless you are the OP or one of the bidders I bet you don't.

Not worth responding.

someone forward me contents of an email or conversation where the individual asked someone to pay a higher price than they quoted...that is absolutely not permitted.

did u win
I didn’t respond to his email that I was in a bidding war. I don’t feel he is honest. I would be scared to show up in Maui and not have a reservation at all or be responsible for fees that he is not revealing. To Venmo or Paypal funds blindly is a trust issue and I don’t feel I can trust him since he didn’t honor his post. I had several other very nice Tuggers reach out & offer nice accommodations. I was responding to his price (it’s not a 5 star resort) not responding to a “make me an offer listing”. Someone else can have it! ;-)

this will be the one and only warning. if you offer a price for a rental you will be expected to honor it.

Brian, maybe that should be added into the information about how to list a last minute rental.

I dont see any ambiguity here, the OP offered this rental at a discounted rate of $450 and when someone offered to pay that it should have been accepted. period.

All: Thanks for judging me so hardcore here. What a welcoming community this is.

The truth of the matter is that I received 5 emails about the reservation. One person offered $650 via email 3 hours after the post, when I had already received other offers for the $450 (however, I had not replied to anyone or even seen the emails yet). I then thought I was being a gentleman by offering the first person who emailed me the opportunity to match that $650 offer. Apparently, that is not the case.

I have the reservation in hand, and would never steer someone to a reservation that is not real or confirmed.

I acquired 9 timeshares in 2021-2022 from this forum thinking that it could be a way to pay for my family to go on vacation by renting out what I could not use. That was completely wrong. Since then, I've had a child, 2 miscarriages, and my income has fallen by over half while I have to work 20+ more hours a week than I did then. I'm losing over $10,000 a year on this failed business. The maintenance fee for this reservation was over $1,100. You'd take the extra $200 if someone offered it to you out of the blue, too.

Im sure everyone can be sympathetic to your financial/personal situation, however you cant expect very many people to "be welcoming" and feel ok about how you handled this rental.

You didnt get "offers of $450", you got people accepting YOUR public offer of $450, that is a big difference!

If you offer a price to someone, and they accept...you should honor that offer. There is no justification for asking someone who has already agreed to your price to pay more. especially telling them that "there is a bidding war going on" in an effort to convince them to pay more than your original asking price. there is nothing gentlemanly about that.

it appears you are more upset about peoples reactions to your unwillingness to honor your own offer, vs the fact that you expected someone who already agreed to your offer to instead pay $200 dollars more than your asking price. that is troubling.
