Please help me decide.... Molokai and Lanai Towers or Lahaina and Napili Towers. Am I correct in saying that Lahaina and Napili Towers have full kitchens while the older towers only have a kitchenette? Does one have a "better" ocean front view than the other?

TIA

You are correct, the Lahaina and Napili Towers are full kitchens and since those are purpose built timeshares, they are a clear step up from the Molokai and Lanai Tower units.

Having said that, I still think the oceanfront views in the Molokai Towers are the best on the property. I own oceanfront in both the old and new sections so I have direct experience with both.

That doesn't mean the Lahaina and Napili Tower Oceanfront views are poor. They are very nice too! Just not quite as nice as the Molokai Tower.

And I am not a fan of the Lanai Tower but that is because I own a 1 BR Ocean front and those units in the Lanai Tower on lower floors with the view blocked by trees.

Hope that helps!

good evening

Gary ...

looked at your pix...
everything looks great...

which one do you prefer??? can't really tell...

I love both of them...

However, partial to Greg's 6206 the big kahona of the system...

We couldn't decide, so we got one of each, both two bdrm OF units and floating.

We start of on the 4th floor of the Moloka'i building and the second week we are on the 9th floor of the Lahaina building where we can throw our cloths into the washer. Nothing more ocean front than Moloka'i OF, the grandkids get their own bathroom, and by the middle of the second week, they're all gone and we are ensconced in quite...

With regards to oceanfront, I agree with the above - the Molokai wing has the best view, as it's the closest to the water. I would honestly say the same thing about an ocean view room, as well. Here are some shots of some of the recent rooms I've been in (before I was an owner):

IMHO The Lahaina tower has the best ocean front views. It is because the pool is to the side of the resort not between the tower and the ocean. Napili's pool also adds some noise to the Napili ocean front rooms.

As far as the rooms, the older section has much bigger rooms BUT my family just hate the way Marriott TS have done their kitchenette. The frigs are just way too small. I do not mind a limited kitchen but a super small dorm room frig is not OK.

We love the green belt in front of the Marriott. It's lush and green and feels so relaxing. The view from the Molokai tower in the picture that was posted cannot be beat and we love the view from the Lahaina tower too and especially the sound of the waves day and night.

The Marriott grounds are so lovely and we miss our stay this year :bawl: except for one night at the Molokai tower on the oceanfront. I can only wish that it is as nice as that picture here but that is too much to ask for but it will be just fine.

We just returned from 7 days Ocean Front Molokai and 3 days Lahaina ocean view. There is something about the Molokai building we really like. However with more than 4 and dinner eating meals in (we do but not dinners) then the larger units may be for you.

Gary, your photos are always wonderful! Mahalo! And your photos make me miss our beloved Maui and the Ocean Club SO much! :)

I've been on one of those Molokai wing oceanfront lanai's on a Member "update" and the view is spectacular. We own a couple of weeks oceanfront in Napili and adore that view too. Though Napili tower is a bit set back, like Iconnections, we absolutely love the grounds of MMOC. It is a huge property and beautifully maintained. For those unfamiliar with this property, your FitBit and you will get a LOT of steps if you just go from one end of the property to the other along that famed Ka'anapali beach walk! :D

Perhaps only slightly off-topic, for those of you like Gary that either own both original and new towers, or those of you that have stayed here multiple times and in both, what input do you have if one is looking to add a week here? I think the answers to those questions would also help our OP ded4025. Because as already mentioned, the big difference is that the new towers have lovely full kitchens and w/d. But the original towers do have an extra bathroom which could be nice with a larger group.

To ded4025, you are going to love this property and Maui! Happy planning! :hi:

While I am not a Maui Ocean Club owner, I have stayed several times. It is my favorite MVC property. The property combined with the location cannot be beat. If I could be at any MVC resort, it would be Maui Ocean Club. I will own there some day.

For the OP, I think it is personal preference based on what you and your family needs are. You cannot go wrong with either in my opinion. Both get you Maui and beautiful resort amenities at the Ocean Club.

The older suites have a layout built by combining multiple hotel rooms vs being purpose built for timeshares from the start. They are slightly larger, have an extra bathroom, are nearer to the main super pool (good and/or bad), and may perhaps cost a little less on the resale market. They have a limited kitchen, no laundry in the room, and (in my experience) the interior appointments aren't quite as nice as the newer villas.

The newer villa layout was specifically built from the start for timeshares. Many prefer this as the interior layout flows a little better. They have an excellent full sized kitchen and in-room laundry. They are slightly smaller in square footage and do not have the extra bathroom. They are slightly higher in cost on the re-sale.

I am interested in what you choose and why, but would suggest weighing the pro/cons vs what your needs/wants are.

-Price
-Number of Bathrooms
-Full or Limited Kitchen
-Laundry In Room or Not
-Building/View location
-etc

Nice insights and additional details, Hangloose. Hopefully the OP will let us know what they decide. We know they'll have a great time, yes? :D
