Is anyone currently in Maui planning to hit the Costco? I'm trying to see what they have for various beach chairs and how much they might cost. Trying to decide if it's worth buying and leaving or renting. We'll be there for a couple weeks.

We just bought from Costco in Kona, and I'm guessing they are the same - $40 each. I think Costco only carries Tommy Bahama - at least that all I've ever seen there.

When will you be on Maui? The Bundle #2 of the Tommy Bahamas chairs that we keep moving from one Tugger to another are available on March 10 or 11 if you happen to be there around that time.

Before you decide to buy any chairs check with where you are staying to see if they have them available to use.

We brought beach chairs on our last trip and that is the last trip I will be flying with chairs ever. It cost about $6- $8 a day to rent two chairs and an umbrella.

The Maui Costco has TONS of tommy Bahama beach chairs for $39.95. I didn't notice any umbrellas, but I wasn't looking too carefully. We're renting 2 chairs and umbrella for $7/day from a local company.

I've seen several of the Tommy Bahamas umbrellas out on the beach take off or fold up in the wind. Saw another one just yesterday. They are fairly flimsy and can be dangerous if they land on someone the wrong way. The resort umbrellas at WKORV are in a whole different category of sturdiness.

i saw a setup a couple of days ago where they used bungee cords and some screw posts to hold them down in the wind. That seemed to work for the group that rigged a couple of umbrellas together.
