Not for nothing, but it takes all of 5 minutes to sign up for Budget's FastBreak, and you get to skip that long line. In and out in minutes.

This works when you first sign up and as long as you have the minimum number of rentals from Budget to keep your account active.

I'm not certain about the latter anymore. I haven't met that requirement in years, yet am still able to go through the FastBreak line just fine. I also no longer see that requirement in ther T&C's, even though the main page does mention a minimum rental requirement.

Thanks for the clarification. I just joined FastBreak last year and I thought I remembered seeing it then. I've tried going into the Budget website and googling the requirements, but the Budget site keeps crashing.

Divide Rental Period

If you're staying for an extended period of time, look at dividing your rental into multiple periods. We are on Maui in Feb/Mar next year for 31 days. I checked Costco for a 31 day rental and then for a 14 day followed by a 17 day and lowered the cost by $350. This doesn't work every year, but has in 2 of the past 4. The coming rental is ~ $300 less than with ciscounthawaii last year. The biggest factor seems to be if your time spans over a PRIME period.

If only 5 minutes, how do you explain the recent post that FastBreak would have saved 20 minutes of an hour wait? That means FastBreak would have been about 40 minutes, not 5.

Sorry, every time I've rented from Budget Maui it's been a wait. And then an incredulous expression when I decline the overpriced unneeded insurance. I prefer an automated one minute checkin such as Alamo.

ETA: sorry, I misread. Only 5 minutes to signup for the program, but there's still the potential for a long wait.

A lot depends on the time of your visit, too. We go in September, and I can count on one hand how many people are in the Budget building at the same time with me. Whale season, though? The line's out the door. Even the FastBreak line had a half dozen people in it.

I'm the most impatient person on Earth, but I find a way to be patient with the rental experience in Maui because it's not really cutting into any activities. I've seen people in line go postal, and for the life of me just don't get that.
