I have the following “offer” in both my RCI Points and RCI Weeks account.

If you own Massanutten it appears you can get 10% off a 2024 exchange if you book it by the end of the year.

On the website, it did not look like I would be able to get the discount to book an OGS I had on hold. But I called them on the phone and saved $29.00 on the booking without a problem.

Check your week account if you own at Massanutten. I received and extra vacation from Massanutten travel from April to August. It only applies to Massanutten resort. Only cost $159 exchange fee, zero trading TPU.

Hmmmm. This looks like a great deal for Massanutten usage. It may have 0 TPUs, but it appears to be pulling about everything available. Works for the Great Eastern part (most) of Massanutten. Does not include Mountainside Villas.

The $159 exchange fee part of it is the best feature. Even though the regular certs we get can be used anywhere, I often don’t use them due to the full exchange fee wherever you go (VV or not).

I have a points account with Grandview and I also got one of those specifically for Massanuten but with paying the full exchange fee. Also, Regal Vista was not included. Although the reservation could be made up to December for 2 or 4 bedroom subject to availability.
It seems RCI and VV run such promotions once in a while

Curious are these good for a partial week say a weekend short stay?

To the best of my knowledge, the reservation is a full week. You are always free to check out early but you will not get any discounts. Some of the VV @ Massanuten resorts have check in available almost every day of the week on that promotion. Some only have Friday or Saturday.

Everything that matches the “more Massanutten” certificate is a full week.

The VV certificates are a different story. I used one last week to book a 3 might Wyndham Kingsgate stay in Williamsburg.

The incentive is it is better to book 7 nights and use some nights versus a shorter stay. With 7 nights you are less likely to be charged a cleaning fee.

That said, I did not have to pay a cleaning fee for my Kingsgate stay.

The 2-45 days certificate wouldn't allow me to create an upgrade request, but this one allowed me submit an upgrade request after I made the reservation.

Interesting point on the housing keeping fee. Is it charged by RCI or the property (Wyndham). I guess the cheapest way to use these certificates is to book a week in RCI weeks for $159 (VV properties) and just use for the weekend. I am curious for RCI Points account holder, since you also have a free RCI week account, can you book for $159 using it or have to pay higher points account exchange fee.

Mine was the higher amount. Exchange fee $269. This particular promotion was restricted to certain VV sections in Massanuten. For example Regal Vista was not included. The VV properties in Massanuten do have resort fees. $7 per night per bedroom for non-owners. I believe it is discounted for owners.

I am curious what the future holds for these certs. It is interesting that they launch the first of these to be used right now through peak summer season. If they can afford to do it with the RCI inventory over peak summer season, when would they not be able to?

I am hoping this is a recurring thing. My week 29 Woodstone ownership that is in points yields 137,000 points. Through this special in weeks, I can book half of it (2 bedrooms) and use no trading power. I realize this is to burn excess inventory a few months before usage, but it is amazing to me how much excess inventory is in the RCI system. (Could this be further evidence that people are booking less with the $299 exchange fees -- hence the glut of inventory to move this way.)

Guess if they keep this up, from Massanutten's perspective it is also a tool for the salesweasels to promise you can buy any off-season dud of a week and still use the resort in peak season for only an exchange fee?

Great you got 136k from Woodsonte. Is Regal Vista the best at 178k? BTW, none of these in Massanutten is affiliated with II? Perhpas that's why it's oversupply in RCI? Also curious where do you typcially burn your RCI Points? You could stay in Massanutten or Williamsburg for 6 months if you spend wisely. Unlike II, I am trying to figure out where to go and how many points I need before I get serious in RCI Points.

I mistyped and have now corrected it. Mine is 137,000 RCI points. What you have down for RV sounds right.

There may be some truth to this. Massanutten’s Mountainside Villas does trade in II as well as RCI. There is not an oversupply of it in II. It is not included as part of this RCI promotion (and it is not managed by Great Eastern).

Also curious where do you typcially burn your RCI Points?

Most years I spend the most points for properties on HHI. Last year, the trade I spent the most points on was Key West.

If you are going to trade VV affiliated properties to stay in VV affiliated properties, you are ahead to own and trade in weeks instead of points. My ownerships are in both buckets for that reason.

So II -> Hawaii and RCI -> Hilton Head and Key West? Nice! Any best resports in RCI points you stayed and recommand? Hope they are not super hard to book.

This certificate has fallen off my account. Did it have to be booked by the end of May? I didn't realize the opportunity to book wouldn't be around through August.

So there is a new “Fall for Massanutten” promotion that is similar to the “More Massanutten.”

Unfortunately, it is not as good of a deal as the earlier promotion. It charges the full $299 exchange fee versus the $159 for the “More Massanutten” promotion.
