Memorial Day Weekend
Got on the Inter County Connector off Route 29 heading from Maryland toward Northern Virginia, DC and followed by a stop at National Harbor.
Spotted a lighted sign with the toll rates but no toll booths.
Seen a neat cell tower that looked like a tall tree.
Very enjoyable drive without the heavy DC Beltway traffic..
This evening, I looked it up on the MD E-ZPass® website
and learned all about the new all electronic toll system.
If you plan to travel on Maryland ICC
or just want to know more about it
be sure to read the following info...
The ICC MD 200 Connecting I-270 via Rt 29 and I-95 (Exit 31) Is Open...
The ICC will be Maryland’s first all-electronic, variably priced toll facility. The purpose of the ICC is to help deliver dependable travel times with a relatively congestion-free highway. To accomplish this goal, tolls will vary to help manage the amount of traffic, with a higher toll during peak periods and a lower toll during off-peak and overnight hours.
There will not be any toll booths or credit/cash toll collection on the ICC. All tolls will be collected electronically at highway speeds using E-ZPass® technology, as vehicles pass beneath tolling structures.
For those users who do not own an E-ZPass® :
Upon entering the ICC, a photo of your vehicle's license plate will be taken and a statement will be mailed to the registered owner's address for the amount of the toll plus a service charge. This service charge helps offset the costs of looking up the information, printing, and mailing the statement.
Hope ICC tolling structures was able to read our E-ZPass®.
Also noticed a lot of signage for I-495 & E-ZPass® is this something new?
