Hi.
My husband and I are thinking of taking the gang plus girlfriends on a family vacation to Marriott's Village d'ile-de-France at the end of August or early September next year and would need either two 2 bedroom units, or a 3 bedroom and a studio unit. I am trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this. I have Sheraton Flex and 2 weeks at Marriott Son Antem that I could elect for points and would have enough though it would be hard to get units. Would the Marriott waitlist work better? Also, I know if I exchange Marriott points in Abound into II I can't exchange into a Marriott resort, but what about if I don't elect points on the two Son Antem weeks and put them into II? Do I still have the same restriction? Worst case scenario I trade into one unit hopefully and then pay the going rate for the other unit for the same week. They seem to have availability on the travel websites.....Thoughts/Advice from your experience would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

You could book your Son Antem weeks for the highest TDI in the season you own and then put in a request first into II, that way you don't give up the weeks until you get a match, and you can ask II to make a note that you want 2 units for the same week. Expect a match by the end of Jan 2026, if not sooner, the MVC to MVC preference will work for you. If you don't match by your election deadline, you could cancel and then elect, but I believe there is an excellent chance of you getting and II match, it may be a much more efficient use of your ownership than electing for club points and booking via Abound, but check just in case.

August will be very very difficult as that is French holiday period. September will be much much easier. For Sept you can very likely just trade via interval into multiple 2-bedroom units. I traded a Willow Ridge studio for a 2-bedroom for Sept last year.

August will be more or less impossible unless you're willing to pay cash. We tried twice for July (which is theoretically easier) both looking every couple of days and at 12 months putting in a waitlist request and both times ended up having to use our cash reservations. Summer weeks at Village d'ile-de-France are just too valuable to elect into points (MVC undervalued them) so owners use or rent them out.

September is a different story. And I would recommend using II with your Son Antem weeks instead of trying to use Abound Points.

Thanks everyone!

Just following up. We did get our exchange through II for our two units! Thanks everyone! Right now they are one day apart, 9/3 to 9/10 next year, and 9/4 to 9/11 next year. We may keep it this way but would prefer they be the same date range. The person at II said I would need to keep calling several times a week to see if anything was available to move 1 of the weeks a day. She said I couldn't email them. This seems like such a pain. Is this my only option besides living with the day difference? We bought a few day European Marriott Encore package when at Son Antem a few weeks ago and could tack it on I suppose to our stay so we would be there the whole time the kids are. Thoughts?

Unfortunately you would need to keep checking to see if something becomes available, as there is no way to place an OGS/waitlist on an existing II exchange.. You should be able to check online to at least see if availability pops up, then you could call if you aren't able to complete a re-trade online.

I would check to see if 9/3 or 9/11 is available to book on marriott.com Depending on the price, it might be worth it instead thr time and effort looking for re exchange.
