Any thoughts on best Marriotts (location, price, points eligibility, quality) in Lisbon , Portugal? We are seniors in relatively good shape looking to go in July or August for a week with some local travel to Porto. Appreciate the feedback.

No MVC timeshares in Portugal.
If you own abound points check if any hotels are available using those on the owner site under points, cruises, hotel, etc.
You could also try the Facebook group Marriott Bonvoy insiders for help with hotels.
If you can travel shoulder season I would recommend that yo avoid crowds and heat.

We stated at the Lisbon Marriott a few years ago and I seem to recall that we got upgraded to a suite (Titanium) and had a very pleasant stay overall with 2 kids in the room.

I don't think the location was convenient particularly for public transport because we used mostly Ubers, which were very affordable.

I don't remember too much about the rooms, but I remember enough about that stay that I'd go back there.

I just booked a trip to Portugal for the week of 4th of July. I also checked Marriott and found other hotels that were just as nice or nice for less money. I'll be staying 3 nights in Lisbon and have Art Legacy Hotel in Baixa Chaido booked. It looks like a really nice place in a good location. Im also going to Algarve, 3 nights in Lagos, and 3 nights in Carvoiero. Not staying in Marriott this trip but that's ok!

The Ivens gets good reviews in Lisbon.
Porto is worth a couple of nights to look around, there seems to be more choice there than there used to be. The Sheraton is a business and tour group hotel, very US in its feel. The AC is out on the ring road so not close to things but easy access to the city by metro and if you like soccer its attached to the Drago Stadium.
In the Algarve there is good choice, with the Pine Cliffs seeming to be a good option, especially if you want larger units.
July and August will be expensive, hot and crowded due to the European school vacations.
As @CPNY says, there are lots of off brand options that may be very nice, but do your research as room sizes can be small and quality can be variable.

A few years ago we stayed at the Sheraton in Lisbon because it was more centrally located than the Marriott. It was a nice hotel ands it had a very nice lounge for the elite guests. We stayed at the Sheraton in Porto and it was not close to anything and even though we had been upgraded to a suite, I would never recommend it.

We are traveling to Portugal for the first time in late April and decided to stay at Memmo in Lisbon. Also considered the Sheraton, but Memmo seemed better for us. We start our trip in Porto and decided to stay at a Hyatt related hotel.

Highly recommend Porto. We want to return to explore it more.

We stayed at the Renaissance in Porto Lapa with Bonvoy FNC and points. Not in center of town but close enough to walk and take mass transit. Friendly staff. They upgraded our room and free breakfast was included (even though we weren't told at front desk it was free for both nights.) We are Plat elite.

We also stayed at the Intercontinental on IHG CC FNCs in Lisbon. Hotel was fine but they did not offer free breakfast even though we are elite and the staff was not friendly.

Had airport positioning at Holiday Inn Lisbon. The hotel was clean but in need of renovation/updating. Elevators were noisy. It had a great rooftop pool and bar with view of the city. The pool was not heated but the view of the city was amazing. I would not return because there are better choices.

Thank you all for your feedback. Helpful and informative. If others have additional thoughts, please feel free to comment. Have a great day.

Difficult to comprehend. I have never had such a negative reaction to a European city as I did with Porto.
