i have gone to walt disney world/orlando,fl many times in my lifetime
always stayed in the disney vacation club resorts. I was able to trade into DVC with my Fox run timeshare, thru interval.
well that part of my life is over

Pls give me advice
what marriott vacation club resorts
would you recommend, for me to stay at in orlando,fl
+
why

Size of rooms
onsite ammenties
location
etc

Thanks in advance

Hmmmm, do I know you? - did I sell you one of my FXR weeks - # 22????

Anyway, I personally like the Marriott Grande Vista - spacious, upscale units right on a golf course.....but many here like Cypress Harbor - and older resort with mature landscaping - 2BR non-lock-offs.

People with young kids tend to like Horizons Marriott with its' pirate themed pool and other very kid friendly amenities.

And if u like the idea of a TS with a hotel on property to use those amenities (Orlando World Center), try Sabal Palms 2BR/2Ba/sleep 6, Royal Palms 2BR/2Ba/sleep 7 and Imperial Palms 3BR/2Ba/sleep 10

I bought your fox run/week #22 thank you again. I have used it many times and the bonus week, it generated for wonderful stays at the disney vacation club/old key west resort.

I regret those "Days are over"

Ditto. Foxrun owners, myself included, should be very, very, very, saddened by the the DVC announcement to go with RCI.

I guess I haven't kept up with the non-Marriott's ... what happened to Foxrun?

I trust Marriott to go ahead with their new Grand Lakes TS which I think is the most exciting concept from Marriott. Just wish it was on a beach somewhere, but if Orlando is your thing be sure to check it out.

Added: You might want to read Bill Marriott's blog on their financial position and there's mention of timeshares. I find it an interesting read and go to the blog quite often.

Nothing bad happened to Foxrun. What happened is that those great Foxrun weeks will no longer be able to exchange through II for DVC, because DVC is switching to RCI. I bvelieve that's what 1965 was referring to.

yes
DAVE M
you are 100% correct.
I had a fox run WEek #14 that was given to me for one penny. I paid $342 in closing costs+$615 in annual dues

It was giving me (2) weeks per year at Disney vacation club
Old key west
(1) two bedroom direct exchange thru interval
+
(1) one one bedroom/AC thru interval, when i deposited the Fox run
with interval got an AC

so I am really sad, because I can no longer get DVC
Thru Interval
with
my fox run week #14

Marriott TS

Ditto with all of the above, but I will add that our favorite has been Cypress Harbor, but since staying at Grande Vista this week (bldg 79 overlooking a great pool & the lake, 6th floor) my thinking has changed to favoring GV. Lots of resort activities & pleasant surroundings.

We like Marriott Horizons when we travel with young kids - themed zero entry pools with slides and mini water park play area (similar to the new Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas artist rendering interactive water play area).

Our favorite when it's us traveling without kids is Marriott's Cypress Harbour - I like it even better than Disney's Old Key West resort. Cypress Harbour is relaxing and laid back with pretty landscaping. Cypress Harbour has the refillable mug program at the market place and we enjoy the Pizza Hut express and counter service food area, too.

We are trying Marriott's Imperial Palms on our March trip so I'll try to report back on our stay after we get back.

We also enjoyed Sheraton Vistana Villages when we stayed there. We had a 3 bedroom.

Who knows, maybe you'll still be able to trade your Foxrun for DVC when it goes to RCI.

it is unlikely my foxrun with RCI, will be able to trade for Disney vacation club resorts, like my foxrun did with interval
but
even if it did

RCI has the (1) in (4) rule, so i will be unable to get into DVC
only once every four years
while I had unlimited access with Disney vacaton club
thru Interval

I helped our high school band, with a trip to orlando,fl
in may,2008

I was able to get 14 Disney vacation club/two bedrooms
memorial day,2008 weekends
with (14) Foxrun resorts that i paid one penny for each of them

Wow, 14 - that was a lot of extra $95.00 fees to Disney, too. :D

We're DVC owners, too, but I actually think the Marriott Vacation Club units are nicer than the older DVC units - the beds and the linens are better at Marriott and the TV's are way nicer. Where Disney shines is being on property/location for the parks and the theming. We mixed our trips up between DVC and Marriott mostly for Orlando. Although I did stay at Sheraton Vistana (older one on an RCI "Last Call") and Sheraton Vistana Villages in 2008, too.

Hi, by the way, if you're Kansas from the Dis boards. If that's you, I got some point transfers from you a few years ago. :)

I was Kansas on disboards, have not been on disboards, in a long time

...and I 'recognized' 1965's style of writing - it sounded familiar to me - and as he said, he DID buy my FXR unit week 22 several years ago.

Since then he has been able to pick up more then a few FXR weeks for closing costs only :D .

1965, I have found that the FXR weeks (and the Fairway of the Mountains that I still own) because of their silver (leaf or pineapple) designation by II trade well into most Marriott's if you are flexible. I have been able to see Hilton Head and Myrtle beach all months except July/early August - all Orlando Marriott's and the western Marriott's as well.
I have successfully traded more then 4 times into the Royal Resorts in Cancun.

It is unfortunate the DVC is going to RCI - especially since RCI's mode of operation seems to be to rent the better resorts rather then make them available to the exchangers.
There is no way to know if they will institute a one in four rule - generally that is the resort that dictates that policy...so maybe that is REALLY DVCs motive - only time will tell.

Good to 'see' you here :hi:

all of your statements about me, are correct

do you feel that the trade power of foxrun with RCI
is dramactially diminshed versus teh trade power of foxrun with
interval

grayfal:

I now own (2) marriotts
Marriott shadow ridge/Platinmum/annual/2 bedroom/Lock off
+
marriott Desert springs/phase #2/Platimum/annual/2 bedorom/lock off

so
I am able to get any marriott that i want
that my foxrun/week #22
+
foxrun/week #24
are unable to get

I have given away, all of my Fox run weeks/#10-#14
that is easy to do, to sell for one penny
and closing costs

Good for you - I think you will be very happy with your Marriott ownership - I now have 3 Platinum weeks that all lock-off - as u know, you will/should get ACs with the 1BR deposits.

I feel it is worth it to keep the week 22 and 24 - you might try them with RCI - but from the old days of the Yahoo FXR owner group - most reported that they just were average traders with RCI - they will however give you a 30 day preference into other VRI managed resorts - you might want to check the VRI website to see if any of those resorts/locations appeal to you.

I feel that because II is size conscious - FXR with its $615 MF is still a good deal to use as a 2BR trader - especially for the Orlando Marriott's ......I preferred to keep my Fairway of the Mountain weeks - 3 EOYs - because they lock-off into 2 1BR sleep 4 units - which gives me great value in II. If I need a larger unit, I deposit it as a 2BR - but have the option of using it as the 2 1BRs.

and only time will tell how the DVC/RCI debacle will shake out - and there are a LOT of people watching that one!

:hi:

Pat, Foxrun lost its Silver Crown status with RCI a few years back. Fairways still enjoys that title, but FXR doesn't. This is the goal of the current board, to get that status back for better trading power.

I really don't expect Foxrun to pull any of the DVC offerings through RCI because I believe we will only see DVC in RCI points. RCI will be very careful to not allow us to trade in with our weeks, and that was the point of the news to DVC members that they will enjoy nightly stays through exchanges.

Having said that, I still hope I am wrong, and that we can get DVC with weeks' exchanges, but I have better traders that will get those weeks. Foxrun just won't work for us in RCI, I am afraid. :( I test traded a FXR week in RCI (a week 26, no less, deposited one year out), and it was a terrible trader. It pulled the same as my pinkish weeks in Colorado (and that ain't good).

Cindy, will Foxrun pull Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Orlando or Bonnet Creek? I know RCI has a smattering of Marriotts, too. I actually saw a Sabal Palms Marriott on RCI for September on a Getaway. It was just over $400 for the week.

I don't know why anyone right now would use a week to trade in to Orlando, unless it was for Spring Break, Christmas, or prime summer. The getaways are so cheap. Heck, I don't even use our MGV week for stays at Grande Vista. We deposited our lock offs last year and will again this year. We just bought a getaway for MGV for this January. I can't justify using one of my ownership weeks when I can save those and buy getaways.

Yes, Foxrun will pull the Hiltons in the off-season. I think Foxrun will do very well with some of the nicer resorts, including Orange Lake in prime season, Summer Bay (not houses, but the condos), Cypress Pointe (very nice place), the Hiltons, and whatever Marriotts are out there (though I only see the Marriotts in the off-season and the sightings are rare). Traveling at the last minute with RCI will still pull a lot of great stuff.

How much was your Getaway? II Getaways can be very reasonable. I see Cypress Harbour on Getaways really often and love the resort more than Grande Vista.

We use our AC's from Foxrun for Orlando Marriotts and never have to use Getaways. Our trip last week was $330 for a 2 bedroom at Grande Vista. Our maintenance fees for Foxrun are $615, so we do okay for cost.

Right. I used one of our weeks to trade for Christmas week at Grande Vista for my daughter. I was just thinking I "might" let RCI have one of my Fairways summer weeks to try out Hilton Grand Vacation Club or Bonnet Creek some day.

The maintenance fees on Fairways is pretty cheap since Fairways is a lock off that locks off into 2 one bedrooms. But II gives me two AC's for it, so I doubt RCI will ever get it from me - too hard to give up those extra bonus weeks!

Cindy, thanks for the info. :) You are right about Marriott in RCI. I doubt RCI gets much. Although there are a few Monarch's showing up on Getaways for Hilton Head right now, plus that Sabal Palms that's showing up for September in Orlando.

H
I was referring to II - doesn't FXR have the silver thing with II?

And I agree with you about the DVCs being available only thru points - if that DOES happen - a package like this http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/classifieds/viewad-192.html might be the way to go. You would just have to see how many points you would need for your DVC trades....

Orlando Getaways II

I agree with using Getaways: I just booked Sheraton Vistana Villiages for in a 2 bedroom for springbreak 3/29-4/05 for $400. This resort is really nice stayed there this summer.

I booked DVC Beach Club for 5 nights with my points and needed 2 extra nights when the getaway came up for $400, now I can not justify keeping DVC and only using 2 nights of the 7 at SVV.
