Marriott's Aruba Surf Club Update

For now, the Surf Club and Ocean Club are sharing access to pool facilities. I was told that next year you will be restricted to using the pool facilities at the resort you are staying at. The wristbands are available at the pool hut and you have to give your name and room number and they mark it off; they seemed to really be checking that info., requiring you to initial when the wristbands were received.

Beaches are public, but palapa use (and lounge use) is restricted to the facility you are staying at. The Surf Club, Ocean Club and hotel all have different towels to identify guests at each resort.

Just came back and it really is a great resort!

Bring blow up tubes and/or rafts for the lazy river, btw.
 
What is the status of the lazy river at Surf Club? Do guests at the Ocean Club and of the hotel have access to the lazy river; and will they continue to do so in the future?
 
We were there in October and we never had a problem at the beach or the pool. We would go down to the beach in the morning get our free palapa. We would stay there most of the day. Then around 3pm we would go to the pool.

The wristbands are for Surf Club guests only. Hotel guests cannot use the Ocean Club or Surf Club pools.

For 2007 guests at both resorts can use the pool at either resort. The lazy river is really nice- very relaxing. I went in practically every day there. Bring a tube, noodle or float; they have an air pump for you to use.

I have been told that the sharing of the pool was a concession for use of the Ocean Club lobby facilities while the second building was being built at the Surf Club, and that it would end this year. When the rest of the resort is finished they will need the space and after '07 Ocean Club guests will not be able to use the Surf Club pool.
 
Debbie, this might have changed, but in September, Ocean Club and Surf Club guests were issued color coded wristbands (not sure about hotel guests). Only OC and SC guests were allowed to use the pools and facilities at the OC and SC.

A little helpful hint. I didn't want the wristband on my wrist (the color tended to stain your skin), so I put mine around the strap of my bathing suit. I noticed a lot of people doing this.
