Hi,

We missed the ball on booking our desired summer week for 2019. I'm planning on booking a different week soon, but was wondering a few things about changing our reservation if the preferred week becomes available:

1. Is it true that once I book a week, I will need to call to change the reservation, ie I won't be able to change the reservation through the MVC website?
2. Is it true that once I book a week, I won't be able to see available weeks anymore through the website, I will need to call to see if the desired week has become available?
3. For high demand weeks (ie fourth of July), how often do they become available? Is there a time that more of these cancellations seem to happen (ie before the 60 day window that cancellations are not allowed)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Yes. Every survey I received after booking through MVC website, I slammed them for not having a cancel function.
2. Also true.
3. Can't answer this. Book at 13 through 12 month out is best solution.

4. Be warned. The last time I booked a week, called MVC to cancel.. received cancellation email but online still showed that my old reservation was still there/booked. Called and escalated.. IT said it could take up to 5 days for the week to be released back to me. In the meantime I could not make another reservation. Waited about a week and then it showed up as available again. Give yourself plenty of time when you want to cancel a week reservation. Points reservations do not have the same issue.

Thank you for your number 4, sounds like my plan which would be to cancel my reservation to book the more desirable week would not work out because of the lag of the week being released back. By the time I got the week back, the week I was trying to book might very likely be gone again.

I had cancelled in the past and it showed up soon after. I just do not know why it does sometimes and sometimes not.

I would call everyday to check in the week you want.

I think if you call and change a reservation, there are no issues. They will cancel and book the new one right away?

I don't know... after I cancelled, received the confirmation but online showed that the reservation was still active, I called the agent and the agent said it had been cancelled and she could book for me. I repeated that the week was not showing available to be rebooked... then she said... mmm... I see the problem, the week is not released, put me on a long hold check with IT and came back to say that IT told her that my week could continue to be on hold for 5 days before it got released back. I did not press as to whether she could book for me. I assume she could not do it either.

I've done that successfully a few times.
