Marriott trading changes?

When I reserved my '08 unit last month, I sensed there were some changes made since I spent a lot of time keeping up with the latest in Marriott and Interval timeshare news, but I did not have time to research. Have there been changes in the last year or so?

Can anyone summarize new policies or whatever that have occurred with Marriott and Interval in the last 18 months or provide a link here that does the same?

I'm holding off on depositing my Dec '08 week until I have time to research the situation. I was also called a few days ago asking to extend my II membership (expires 4/09) to 2012 at a $60 or so discount and wonder if I should.

Thanks so much.

There are no changes that I can think of that would impact your exchange. Marriott is considering a plan to modify the way Marriott-to-Marriott exchanges are handled, but it hasn't been implemented and won't be at least until 2009.

Best advice is to deposit early and request the exchange of your choice early, at least 12-13 months (preferably more) in advance of your expected travel dates.

Whether it makes sense to extend your II membership for three more years is a personal choice. However, if you are sure you will use it and sure that the price is discounted from what a normal three-year extension (not three single-year fees), go for it.

Thanks, Dave M. I am not sure what transpired in the call indicating something had changed....perhaps an indication that trading directly for other Marriotts (which I try and usually do).....good to know all is the same as in the past.
