The whole year is RED in II. {But there are shades of red from bright red to pink.} The Palm Desert resorts, Shadow Ridge & Desert Springs all have three seasons of ownership, Winter & spring, Fall (& some late spring) & Summer. ( they are called different names at the different resort). Each season of ownership trades a little differently. The Winter & Spring weeks trade very well ( bright red), the fall weeks trade pretty good ( red) and the summer weeks trade just OK (pink).

I guess that depends on what you want to go for. If you want to trade for other Marriott's or timeshares that are not as high end as Marriott, you will probably do very well.

We have owned at SR for 5 years now, a silver week (summer). I didn't know what my trade power really was since we done very little trading. Then a couple of months ago there was a thread just like this about trading power. Another TUGger who also owns Silver, as well as his father and his father's friend all owned silver and had done a lot of trading. His father traded into NCV during prime summer twice and between all three of them they had traded into Hawaii over a dozen times, all with Silver Shadow Ridge.

Doesn't sound like bad trading power to me. The key is to reserve your week early and deposit and reqeust ASAP.

It's good for me

Have never had trouble trading, include to where we wanted - Hawaii, NCV, Aruba etc... Using the small side of the lock-off.
( and when you go to Orlando, it always pulls two bedrooms+ )

That said, I bought there, not because of trading but because I liked the resort.
I love the golf there.
My theory is never buy to trade - always buy somewhere that - if you can not trade it 10 years form now, you will still be happy going there every year.

With the lock off, I go there every year, and use the other side for a trade.
It has not let me down yet.

That sound correct

Those prices look similar to what I have seen.
That being said, not sure I would buy in the off season at Shadow Ridge.
There are probably cheaper resorts to buy if all you want to do is trade.

I would suggest buying at Palm Canyon and trading. Then if you want to go to Shadow Ridge you can always buy a Getaway week. We were just there for $359/week in a 2 BR.
