With a starwood purchase you recieve "gold status" with Marriott TS purchase do you recieve any "Elite Status" is there any value to the status?

Do you recieve same status with resales?

I think at one time you did earn an elite level status with a TS purchase, though not any more. You can get silver status just for getting the Marriott Rewards Visa from Chase. I will leave the "value" question to others.

As mentioned, you do not receive any MR status perks for purchasing a Marriott T/S. If you are thinking about getting a Marriott VISA card for the silver status, the Premier rewards card is IMO, a better deal at $60 annual fee vs the signature at $30. For the extra $30 you get a free night at a Marriott hotel, category 1-5 annually. That alone is worth the $60 and you get more MR points for stays at Marriotts charged to the card and double points for dining and airline charges.

Indeed...I recently "had" to stay with colleagues at the Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek Hotel at $279/night+taxes, but was fortuanate to have my premier card free night in my account, and used it for the stay. About $300 in value.
