I've started a new thread to discuss the best ways to use points under the new enhanced program. Post your ideas here of the best values using points after Jan. 15, 2009.

Previously the lowest cost per night for a category 7 hotel was to stay 7 nights (150,000/7 = 21,429 points). At the price charged by Marriott to purchase additional points (.0125 per point) this equaled $268.

It appears the best value with the new program will be with 5 night stays. I've computed the cost per night (paying for 4 nights in points/ 5th night free) in points & dollars as follows:

Cost per night on a 5 night stay:
category 1= 6K or $75
category 2= 8K or $100
category 3= 12K or $150
category 4= 16K or $200
category 5= 20K or $250
category 6= 24K or $300
category 7= 28K or $350
category 8= 32K or $400

Obviously if you can find MVCI availability, at 100K, 125K or 150K that is the best value for points. I have a studio at Maui Marriott Ocean Club- Lahaina tower booked for next spring break using 100,000 points. That's a cost of $1250 per week or $179 per night!
