Check this out - 2,500 MRP for every Visa-paid stay at 2,700 participating Marriott brand hotelsbefore January 18, 2008 - call 1-888-MARRIOTT (627-7468)

Depending on the room rate and the duration, this could be better than the 5 points per $ for using the Visa at Marriott Properties. I have a business meeting in Vegas, one night at $149 so instead of 745 points, I'll get 2,500. I bought Marriott Gift Certificates so I'll double up anyway. Love those MRP's
:whoopie:

Oops - the fine print:

Terms & Conditions:
Terms & Conditions: Marriott Rewards members who register will earn 2,500 MegaBonus points per stay, up to a total of 10,000 points, beginning with their second stay when their first day and subsequent stays are made between September 23, 2007 and January 18, 2008, at a participating Marriott property and payment is made with a Visa® card.

If I register/sign up today (Nov 29), will they allow my Courtyard stay in Sept 30 count as the 1st stay?

Yes, past stays - within the promotion period - will count. However, there are numerous versions of this offer. Your offer will likely vary from what's described above. For more details and for how to find what your offer is, see post #25 in this linked thread.

DaveM: You are soooooo knowledgable. Sure glad you are a Tugger :)

thanks, sorry I did not read and memorize every thing posted on TUG :D

There are different versions. With my MR account I receive 2500 points for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th stays whereas my wifes account gives the full 10000 after only the 3rd stay. We stay more using my account. Their goal it seems it to have her use stays under her account.

my offer is 2500 per stay starting w/ my 2nd stay. Now, my two night stay in Sept at the Long Beach Courtyard earned me 3000 MRPs + the 5-for-1 that my black Marriott Visa offers.

If I enrolled in the Megabonus and stayed at the same place again for two nights at the same rate, is this Megabonus in addition to these points I would have already gotten (the 3000 + 5-for-1) ?

I assume the 3,000 points were the 12 points for dollar for your stay and the 5 points for dollar were for charging your stay to your Premier Marriott Visa. Those earnings are normal for any charges for your Marriott stays.

Thus, the MegaBonus points will be in addition to that. If that stay was your second during the promotion period, you should get 2,500 for that stay.

My offer was not as generous. I get 5,000 points for each of my 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th and 15th stays (not nights) during the promotion period. I'm up to nine stays so far and have two more scheduled this next week.

I think it's weird that there are so many different megabonus offers. I also received the 2500 points for stays 2-5, when paying with Marriott Visa. I guess the marketing people were working overtime, researching all of us.

I used to use my corporate Amex for all of my business stays, but I started using my Marriott Premier card for business stays too. This has been awesome for building a ton of points, including the 10,000 megabonus!!! Luckily my company allows me to post the hotel stays at cash.

I would love to know the rationale for how they decide the various incentives. My husband I have always compared paper mails from Marriott as well as Continental.

In general, it always seemed the higher level Marriott elite got a better incentive, which is reverse of what I would do. (offer more to those who aren't staying as much--you already get rewarded for being higher level elite)

Also, over the 14 or 15 years our son has had a Continental onepass number, he has consistently gotten the offer for the Continental Visa whenever my husband gets one, and I never have recieved one. I always assumed it was gender-related since our son never made elite status but my husband and I have been varying levels of elite for at least 14 years.
