I listed my DSV II back in March 2023 with MVC. They finally sold my Gold Season Desert Springs Villas 2 for $9k, they keep 50%.
Took a good 7 months for them to find a buyer, but was a very easy process. Usage starts for the new owners in 2025 so I had to pay the 2024 maintenance fees but am keeping the 2 lock off weeks booked at DSV 2.

Happy to answer any questions.

I also used their resale department to sell three units back in ~2015. Easiest sale ever - I just had to be patient.

Glad that your experience was good and glad that you posted about it so that others will be aware of it.

50% is quite a high %. Are there other places you recommend if wanting to sell a MVC unit that has more reasonable %?

They charge 50% but sell for a much higher price than you would ever get on the open market.

Perhaps. But I don’t think you would ever net $4500 for such a week on the external market.

I would consider their net to be closer to $2700 as they had to pay MF's for a year. But still seems to be an OK deal.

True, but they do get to also use 2024. I would expect a white season at DSV to be a hard week to sell on the external market. One might be lucky to get a few hundred for it. The only reason MVC can sell it for more through the resale department is that they can include them in bundle packages with trust points to make it look like a buyer is getting points in the $8 range.

Good comments. Thanks. We are considering selling Fairway Villas Platinum week but haven't started finding the best way to do it.

I paid about $3400 15 years ago as a resale purchase. Basically I got to fully use the weeks for amazing trades via II for 15 years and made over $1k, so I am beyond thrilled :) Maui Marriott x5, Westin Kaanapali Villas, Newport Coast Villas x5, Crystal Shores x2, just to name of few. I locked off my 2 bedroom every year so traded 2 units via II.

I consider it to be a $4500 net since I retain usage over the 2024 weeks, that I locked off into a Studio and 1 bedroom that I plan to trade in II. I only consider the 2024 maintenance fee a loss if the new buyer was to retain usage over those weeks. The new buyers usage starts 2025.

Back in 2016 I used what was then called "MVCI Resale Operations" to sell my two Canyon Villas Gold weeks. And they successfully did so at a selling price of $6,000 each, so also a very positive experience. Back then, the split between the seller and Marriott was 60/40, respectively, so somewhat better than it is today.

My understanding is that they will only list weeks deemed as "marketable" at any given time. For example, last summer I was told that they would not take my Custom House Platinum week. Presumably there wasn't sufficient resale demand for that one, because maintenance fees there had previously trended up to being some of the highest in the system.
