A resale market for DC points has yet to really develop. We have only seen two Ebay auctions for DC points. Apparently they were the same set of points listed twice. We really don't know how Marriott will handle the points and what usage rights those resale points will have. We have seen in their SEC filings that they may only be limited to book trust inventory and not have the ability to book exchange company inventory.

We also don't know what kinds of fees are involved. The trust permits up to $1 per point ROFR fee. We don't know how much the transfer fee would be. Perhaps just $25 as is the case for resale weeks deeds.

I think the last Ebay auction ended with a final bid of about $2-$3 per point. It was a 1000 point auction. The final auction price was in the $2000 range.

I wouldn't want to be the first person to take a gamble on resale DC points unless I had money to lose and willing to commit the annual MF dollars without worry.

Just got a look at the points contract.
It has specific language about not being able to transfer to a third party, so until Marriott sets up a program, any resale is at risk.

Exactly- since there is uncertainty as to what use a resale buyer would have. There is some language to indicate that resale points might only be usable for last minute reservations, but there is no track record and even the salespeople don't really know. So, if you buy points today, you have to accept that there may be no resale value, and they could even be hard to give away.
